Using both Pactra & Faskolor paints together

Post by Coelacanth »

Has anyone here used Pactra paints in conjuction with Faskolor paints? The two brands each have "ideal" colors that the other doesn't have, and if it's possible, I'd combine them (not mix them, of course--just paint adjacent areas of a body with different brand paint). I realize that the Faskolor paints are water-based while Pactra are lacquer. Has anyone used both on the same body? If so, and it worked well, which did you apply first, or does it matter? I'm digging some of the Fasescent colors that aren't quite matched by anything Pactra has.

Thanks for the info.

Ive done it. I try to spray the pactra first, just because I'm not sure what it will do to the water based paint.

Yeah they work together . Just let each coat dry.

Thank you rctenracer & greene-r74. I may have to shoot some Faskolor before Pactra; as long as the Faskolor is dry, it won't cause any issues spraying Pactra over top of it?

As long as the paint you laid down first is dry, you should be fine spraying pactra over the top of it. I give mine a good 24 hours to let the water fully evaporate out of the water based stuff if I'm using laquer on top of it.

I have another question along these lines. Has anyone done the FasGlitter/FasKoat technique, then instead of overspraying with a primary color of FasKolor, using Pactra instead? The final color I want to use by Pactra is a nicer shade than FasKolor's version.
