Losi Pro SE

Post by mrlexan »

Recently obtained this from my buf Chad Martin. I have admired it for a long while and he reluctantly parted with it. Came pretty much as you see it, new built. Just had to add the correct wheels and tires. Also need to re-arrange of the stickers to match the box art. Definitely a keeper.

Looks lovely! :)

I'm tempted to turn my JRX Pro into an SE as my Pro chassis has some extra holes drilled in it which bug me. I need a list of the parts that changed really. I have a Junior 2 chassis NIP but I'm not sure on the other bits needed. :?

p.s. My tires had that rot too, I cleaned it off with a toothbrush and some of that Meguires Tire Goo stuff (for 1:1 cars) it works wonders it really does.

The only thing you really need is the chassis. The J2 and the Se are different in that the J2 chassis as the mounting holes for the 5 link on either side, whereas the SE does not (you can see it in my pic). The SE has the slipper, the Pro did not. The bodies are different in the SE has a bubble in the Drivers side just behind the front wheel. The SE shocks are black anodized, the Pro are grey. The SE came standard with green springs in front and red in the rear. Other than that, the SE and the Pro are the same, short of the bodies having different paint jobs and different colored wheels. Hope that helps.

Great info jay.. as ever.. :)

So essentially the Junior 2 or SE chassis wil just fit on? Same bulkheads? Also the top brace is needed I guess? I'll keep the Pro Shocks and towers and maybe fit a XX retrofit tranny so that solves the slipper issue.

Is the Junior 2 body exactly the same as the SE

Not needed, but they are the same between the J2 and SE.

That might not work entirely without a mod. I don't have a Retro Trans myself (been looking for one NIP), but I have read that you have to cut out a whole in the bottom of the chassis for it to fit properly, as it is lower that the older Losi trans. Not something I would do to a new chassis.

Read my post again. Same thing applies.... the bubble is in the SE and not the J2. I seem to remember that the Pro Body is also "splayed" on the side pods from front to back, as opposed to being straight like the SE and J2. I can't remember with 100% certainty and all that stuff is in storage. Hope that makes sense.

Nice ride MrLexan!

To answer a few questions:

The SE chassis and body are narrower than the Pro/Junior 2 since the SE does not have the 5 link mounting provisions.

The SE chassis also has extra holes in the rear to allow for adjusting the wheel base. Otherwise the Junior 2 and SE chassis are interchangable. The SE body is a bit longer due to the adjustable wheel base.

If you're gonna run a Losi molded chassis, the front brace is necessary. I've broken the front end completely off a Junior 2 in a relatively minor crash because I left the brace off during a "test drive".
