Ok so I was at the local track today for a shake down of my 22 and I decided to bring my Topcat along for some vintage action. Another guy was bombing around with his giant Baja truck. I was trying to stay clear and do my own thing but I seemed to be having speed controller problems and the car stopped in an area with several large bumps after a large jump. Then I heard it coming down the straight. WHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. Oh CRAP! He's coming I had better get out of the way. Squeezed the trigger.........nothing...........CRAP!
Ouch, so what all did he break? Body and the rear carbon fiber mount? Reminds me of a video i saw the other day 1:25 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5ETbzsUEnU. That was an awesome body too.
That is gonna leave a mark. I give you credit for having the stones to drive your car at a track, with other drivers around. Wishing you a speedy rebuild
Ouch! Really sorry to see this beautiful car marred like this.
The lexan in that shell should not have busted soo easily like that. Where did it come from?
I remember when Ant was trying out a slightly different version of lexan. I cant remember exactly but I think it could have been PETG or something. Anyway there was some issues with this material and a Procat shell I also got at the time buggered up much the same way yours has.
I was a bit miffed with the material used as I even had a new genuine decal set applied to that shell.
I still have it somewhere to remind me of the time I ended up with an inferior quality product.
Inferior indeed! This in no way makes me less grateful for Ant's hard work. When I bought these the were the only Topcat shells available in the world so I was very happy to have them.
I just got the chassis back from powder coating. Orange may not be every ones cup of tea but I really like it.
Other things I will be adding while I am at it are a Novak Cyclone, Lunsford punishers all around, Reedy DH 12 turn triple, a new 3mm FG shock tower and of course new skin.
I broke a wing mount on my Tamiya TL-01B (long arm / off-road (Buggy) version of the TL-01);
I believe this chassis was offered as the Baja King, and Baja Champ.
I have a question about the parts tree(s) that include this wing mount.
I found one...

Things like the arms are two piece, so you get one front and one rear assembly. Camber and sterring links, battery holders, etc are all one side. Front and rear bumpers iirc are the same on some.
Just purchased a topcat but it needs a few parts What is the best alternative to the original crash back front suspension bands as it currently doesnt have one ?Any help appreciated

TBG does, but I don't see any right now. I am actually mounting one up right now, I stupidly cut the front arches on the side wrong but it will look OK when I am done.
Been looking for a nice Topcat for a while, and couldn't resist. Composite Craft chassis.
All is new with exception of the wheels and front tires. Polished Kyosho gold shocks.
Question to the Schuey guys here, what...

Im glad everyone likes this example of what I consider to be one of Schumacher's sweetest looking buggies. While the design left it behind on the race track back in the day the guys who designed it were definately looking to turn heads (and I...
Finaly I have managed to buy a Schumacher TopCat, just waiting on it's arrival, this car has been at the very top of my must have list for ages. :D Comes wiith new original body, wing and all the other related bits and pieces :D

Seen this is primarily a vintage forum... I think it is fairly normal to find lots of people here who like something 'different'.
I also like to own my own creations: not because they perform better than the others ('cause usually they don't  )...
Just a stock Topcat with stainless hex head hardware and ceramic diff balls for durability. I run this one around the yard and such so I was not concerned with perfection. I have all the revised front end parts and a composite craft chassis which...

Makes sense to me. It's always the little odd thing that breaks. I learned years ago with a parts box full of extra a-arms, shocks, gears and an entire parts car it would be the one part I did not have that would end my day. Usually the last thing...
I've been hunting for the right Topcat for ages and finally found one :D I wasn't really looking for one in great condition as they tend to go for a high price in good condition, plus there's something about the restoration that i really love....

I have a Tekin 410K which is too late, a Nosram F1 a Futaba 210 and a Speedmaster Silverstar. The Silverstar would be more period correct, but it's just the look of them i don't like...

The Speedmaster ESCs were very popular with racers in...
