Installed all the electronics this weekend and found out the speed controller I was using doesn't have any brakes or maybe its an issue with my lipo cutoff.

Hey, super nice build here. About your speedo, it seems to me like a Hitec ? All the Hitec ESCs I've had were super weak on brakes. On a forward only you could add like 5 schottky diodes to help a bit, but if it has reverse, you're stuck with close to non-existent brakes. If you have absolutely NO brakes at all, it might also be that the ESC has reverse and has been used with a schottky diode, in that case the reverse FETs are just dead.

In my experience, staying away from Hitec is a good guarantee of success. Litterally everything I have owned or seen from them just sucks.

BTW lipo cutoffs are way overrated IMO. By the time your battery reaches 7V, your car will litterally be crawling reeeeeaaaally slowly on the track. Just don't keep running when this happens. Neuronal lipo cutoff, it's called.

Sweet build greene-r! just a comment on cutting bodies though - cut from the outside, where the protective film is, so you can get a straight cut while ensuring it remains snug on the lexan

Thanks for the body trimming tip, I'll try that next time. I usually trim from the inside so I can see the lines of the body. Tried the scoring technique with an exacto knife but I don't have the skills for that.

That speed control, found out it was good. Its just the way it is. I liked it for the way it fit the car and the fact that it was blue. But it didn't run very well. It was a low frequency controller. Gave the car the shivers. Then it went from brake for about 1 second to full reverse.

I finally swapped it out with a Novak Duster. Doesn't look at good or fit like I want it, but runs much better. Had it out last night, up and down the street. It ran great. I spent over an hour trying to find a good way to mount the electronics and this is what I came up with. Looks like a time machine of something you see in a terrorist movie. I don't run on a track so I'm using the lipo cutoff just for the insurance. Once I get the feel of the car it may come off. Also had to install a big Capacitor, the servo was pulling a lot of juice. With all the weight up front it still feels heavy in the back but handles much better then I expected it too.

I love 2.4ghz radios you can jam all the electronics together and not worry about glitches.

I'm already using the top two screws on the rear shock tower for the body mount. I just barley have enough room under that for an ESC shelf. I'm going to look around and see if I can make something look a little better. Then move the receiver to the space behind the servo, maybe mount it on a slab of lead.

couple of more tips

- Put the spring cup back on the lower balljoint on the rear left shock
- make sure your servo arm and turnbuckle make as close as possible to a perpendicular angle to even out the steering response

Got it painted today. The white is actually parma faschange blue, white with a pearl blue tint. Dark metallic blue, faspearl lime, fasteal and black. I started over with the electronics, I didn't like how it looked all packed in. Once I get that all sorted I'll post pics of the completed car. Also still need a nice matching set of tires and wheels. Here it is after the new paint.

Got the electronics sorted out a little better. Had to make an ESC shelf and find a controller short enough to fit under the body mount. So I went with a castle sidewinder, which also eliminated the lipo cutoff, and now its brushless.

Still having a hard time finding tires and wheels to fit it. Most of the back rims Ive tried rub on the trailing arms. And if I find a pair of rims that fit, the tires rub.
