RPM re-re, please confirm.

Post by shane »

At my LHS this morning and they tell me that RPM will be re-releasing all the old rc10 (and some others) parts that they use to make, in a couple of weeks.
Can anyone confirm this, please?

I asked, bad news I am afraid
Dear Mr. Tim Harris,
Unfortunately, there is nothing "new" scheduled to be released for vintage RC10 vehicles from RPM at this time. I apologize for the bad news.
Take care and thank you for your interest and support of RPM products. If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to send us another e-mail.

I'd be asking my LHS why they would make up a story like that.

WOW thats to wierd. Just this morning I sent an e-mail to RPM asking about if they were considering running the rear arm mounts again. This was the response I got this afternoon

Dear Mr. Nick Cautrell,
Thank you for your suggestion to re-release RPM rear suspension mounts for the RC10. While it does sound like a great idea, in reality our vintage parts sales are at rock bottom right now. You would think a-arms would be a popular seller but sadly, that is not the case. Because our vintage parts sales are so poor, it is unlikely at this time that we will offer those mounts. However, there is always the possibility that you can purchase a run of them yourself. If you're willing to pay a $200 set-up charge, plus shipping and parts costs, we can make you as many as you'd like (that's if we haven't recycled the molds yet - I'll have to check if you're serious about this). If you are serious about getting a run made, please let me know how many you want and I'll get you a final cost.
Take care and thank you for your interest and support of RPM products. If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to send us another e-mail.

So on one hand $200 is out of the question for one person but 10 people at $20 is not really out of line. The other question is how much would each set run. Might be something to think about.

Nick

Last year I asked them if they ever plan on selling the RC10 arms in white. They still sell them in black so I figured it shouldn't be too tough to just change the color but nope.

Those look so ridiculous on vehicles. I just don't get why someone would want a nasty pair of nuts on their rig.

So $10 X 20 people for all the arm mounts we want? We could each have 2 sets and sell the rest on ebay and have the proceeds put towards rc10talk.

Yeah, but the $200 is just to get started. By the time you pay for the parts too, I don't see any way that anyone would turn a profit even if they lived to be 100. I mean it's not bad if you really need them, but not too many people need them that bad. I think RPM's marketing department would be all over it already if there was a profit to be made. IMHO
