I'm fixing up an old MCS race bike....narrow Ukai rims, Powerlight bars, Terrycable 3 peice crank, Turbo Light stem....
I'll post some pics once it's close.

My first real bmx, still have the original steel bars, post, stem, cranks and seat. Sadly, you are looking at my only remaining bmx parts.

I had some nice bikes but never cut enough lawns to fork out the dough for high-end parts. The Takagi CR-MO cranks and Tuf-Neck ring on the Mongoose moved from bike to bike. I could only dream about three-piece cranks. 20 years later I got my first set on a GT Zaskar.

I stand corrected. At first I was checking this thread on my smartphone and noticed the color, tail and rims. Assumed it was a Mongoose Stylist...see next post. Something didn't see right with the rear of the frame. So once getting on laptop to see bigger pics, it's not a Mongoose. Believe it's a Raleigh Shock. However in 87 and 88, the frame was split into two smaller bars on top. It didn't have the little half loop step either. But still believe it's a Shock, just trying to figure out what year.
Toaster wrote:Love the thread, just recently came across it all the pictures of the old school bikes are bringing up great memories of the crazy ramps and dirt pit jumps we use to make lol (the restoration MA is amazing, going to have to pick your brain about it later).

Always wanted a Kuwahara from the early 80's and have just recently started looking. They are going for a mint on ebay and one was just snapped up on craigslist for $150, I just wish it was me.

In my stumblings I came across the following listed as a Raleigh vintage bmx but it doesn't seem quite right (I didn't even know they made them back in the day), does anybody by chance know what this might be?

I have been wanting to get my hands on a sweet Kuwahara Bravo Pro for a while now and am still looking. Do good examples ever come up for sale?

Everything comes up for sale eventually. I waited 2 years to get my hands on a JMC 24. A lot of that was waiting for the right one to come along at the right price. A good rule of thumb with vintage bmx (and vintage r/c) is to be patient and wait for the right one. It can save you buyer's remorse, not to mention money to get it up and running and looking right.

Speaking of my JMC, here's a some updated pics. I switched the wheels, seat post and brake cable out. It's now sporting Campagnolo Record hubs laced to Ukai speedline hoops. The post is a Robinson and the cable is an 84 stamped Dia Compe. I like it even better now. 8)

A few months ago I found my girlfriend a cool bike. She had a newer Bianchi cruiser but wanted something with a little more personality. Here it is. It's a 1980 Bicycle Pedal'r Emory Klunker. The frame is made by Emory. It was modified in 1980 by Bicycle Pedal'r into this Klunker. A Klunker is an early mountain bike, what was available before you could walk into a store and buy a complete mountain bike. It's got some bmx action going on too with the VDC bars and post and Sugino chainwheel. This thing is a blast to ride, she really loves it.

And, I've got one on the way. It's supposed to come out mid-September. I wasn't planning on getting another bike, but I know a guy..... 8) Anyway, it's a retro Mongoose KOS Kruiser. It looks like it's going to be a really nice 26" bmx cruiser. It's full chromoly and has some very nice components. The hubs look like Son Lites. Mine is going to be in the raw finish (clear coat over raw steel) as pictured below, it is also available in chrome. They are only selling 40 of them in the US for some reason.

It's not quite as vintage as the other bikes in this thread, but here's my '97 3rd generation Morales Flatland roller with the following mods:

- Kore zero-offset Flat Forx
- DK stem that I powdercoated flat black
- Graveyard O.G. bars that I powdercoated flat black
- Graveyard sprocket that I powdercoated flat black
- One-piece cranks that I powdercoated flat black
- Kore 2" flatland pegs
- Kore 12-tooth freecoaster sprocket
- Araya Super 7X rims with 3/8" Sovos front hub and 3/8" Nankai rear freecoaster
- Primo aluminum Tenderizer pedals that I powdercoated flat black
- Primo Comet tires
- Primo Rod seatpost
- Primo Hemorrhoid seat
- Play stem/gyro cover
- Lump bar ends
- Shadow Conspiracy half-link chain

I bought the bike from Dan's Competition back in '97 I think and added different parts along the way. I've decided to go brakeless to clean up the look a little. The color is the original translucent purple over chrome powdercoat from Morales. It's has an 18" top tube and the perfect geometry for flatland. Some of the famous names who rode these frames were Chase Gouin, Jesse Puente and Edgar Plascencia.

UltraHive, I recognize your name from the bmx boards. That black FSX looks familiar and I see you're in NY, have you gone on any of the NYC rides? I wonder if we've met in person. Nice collection!
