Manhattan Project Tamiya Brat

Post by esaresky75 »

I was watching "The Manhattan Project" (1986) last night for the second time since, um... 1986 and in the movie is a Subaru Brat RC that I'm assuming is a Tamiya. in one scene, the drivers head moves left-right. Is this a feature that was factory or done for the movie?

It was done just for the movie. At one point in time I thought about trying to make a replica of that Brat. Complete with a bottle of Plutonium, or whatever that was he put in the bed of it.

Just watched a clip from that movie and forgot whoever made that Brat put working head and taillights on it too. It also looks like they swapped out the wheels and tires for Frog ones.

Thanks. Sidenote, when I watched it on Comcast free movies on the LCD TV, the driver is so much clearer. Really neat vehicle.

Ok, now I have an issue with you. It's bad enough trying to find parts to restore antique RC's but now I have to find an 25 year-old obscure UK movie!!

It look's like a good movie. Shall we turn this into a "RC's in movies" thread? Only hobby-grade though.

Ok, you're off the hook. Found Malcolm on ebay $4.45 + $3 ship. Another seller has it for $5.77 plus ship OBO.

This has been mentioned in the past on this site but there is a Punky Brewster episode where they race a bunch of Tamiya's. Punky builds a hopped up Frog with a CRP front end and races Ralphie from A Christmas Story. Sounds crazy as hell huh! HA! Look it up on Youtube: Punky Brewster - Girls Will Be Boys.
