Help me deck out my 5link Shelf Queen with electronics
I want to find some pristine period correct electronics for my shelf queen. I admit complete ignorance of electronics of that period. I remember my car, and remember I ran an airtronics XL2P radio... but couldn't tell you anything about ESCs, Servos, or Recievers of the day, and woudl appreciate any help you can give with advice on what to get and where to get. I know there is an electronics forum, but thought I would hit up the losi guys first seeing as how its going into a 5link.
I do know one thing, and that is my goal is to obtain a perfect condition Revolution 27t motor, but haven't been able to find anything!
So where could i start?

The revolutions are not the easiest part to find, but as far as period correct- how correct do you want to be? Lot's of different guys used what they could afford back in the day-
but........if it were me I might look toward a Novak 4 ( easier to find now ) and maybe a NER2 receiver ( the orange goes nice with the wheels ) and older futaba s148's are easy to find as well-
then some 1700SCE's or 1400 SCR's

Re: Help me deck out my 5link Shelf Queen with electronics
I just finished building my JRX-T.
I wound up using a futaba r-102GR mated with an original magnum radio, The boxy one with the rectangle battery holder in the base.
servo is s-148
1400 scr sanyo pack
Tekin 610 ESC.
Motor is a trinity monster horsepower mod. No Idea on the wind.
These are all the same electronics I had in my original jrx-2 back in the day.

Re: Help me deck out my 5link Shelf Queen with electronics
Thanks for the tip, guys! I think the novak 4, S148, and NER-2 will be the way to go. now to find them in condition worthy of a shelf queen! You're right, the orange will go nicely with the x2. Can't wait to get this thing finished!
Now.. how to find a revolution? I might be able to settle for a pristine twister.
(edit: I see you can actually buy s148s brand new... is this the same servo?)

Re: Help me deck out my 5link Shelf Queen with electronics
Ah an old Trinity motor. Nice. Those were my favorite stock motors. The Revolution motors were slow by comparison. I only had one and hated it. Then again the only Reedy motor I ever had, had it's endbell fly off after landing from a jump! Now looking back at my old cars I really want a Revolution motor for my JRX2 and a Reedy for my RC10 to be brand correct. Go figure! I ran the Novak T4 ESC's along with either a KO Propo EX-5 radio (I miss it) or a Futaba Magnum Jr. That one I still have and it still controls my cars although through a Tekin ESC now instead.

Re: Help me deck out my 5link Shelf Queen with electronics
I remember running a Novak T4 and burning that out and upgrading to a Novak T1. I also ran the 2nd gen Futaba Magnum JR. The motors I ran were B&R motors which I see on ebay quite often. If its going to be a shelf queen, go with an original JR's Choice motor.
