Team Check.Point motors

Post by m_vice »

I always thought Team Check.Point had some cool motors. I recently had a change to get some. Great motors, well designed and solid materials used.

Over the years I have used many a brushed motor, the Checkpoints I had 3 of when they came out, awesome motors, like you I really appreciated the design and quality all of them prooved to be very fast and smooth and the brushes lasted ages. I have since sold virtually all of my brushed gear ready to invest in the new brushless technology, but I think these checkpoints are the best out there for brushed. 8)

Is the current team checkpoint the same company as the old-school one?
I had the impression that the current one was just another great-planes/tower hobbies house brand.

I believe O'Donnell purchased the Checkpoint trademark but otherwise there is no connection to the original Checkpoint motors

They came out late 2005? something like that

You are correct- they were great motors though and replaced and outdated the Orion V2 motor almost overnight- but then in 07 brushless really came on strong and that was that-
I still have 4 or 5 of the checkpoints from 07 racing season.

Their website is down, I haven't been on there maybe for maybe a couple of months, I remember they were doing brushless motors and lipo's but have they packed up now? or is the website just not working for me?

Checkpoint is undergoing "changes" right now. Keep an eye out.
I enjoy, Schumacher 1/12th, Checkpoint motors, Lazerlite motors, PB Sizzler, Pro Panther-10, Dialed Speed Controls, Paranoia spurs.

And doesn't ODo belong to GreatPlanes in the end? All these are are TowerHobbies mills

Yes the latest TCP brushed motor release was unfortunate to say the least... BL just killed them overnight. Then again they were stealing so many design ideas from the CRF V2 it wasn't even fair from the beginning.
