My Modernised RC10T build

Post by Caine »

Hi all,
Here's my new build, been wanting to do this one for a while. Started as a 50 dollar roller on ebay. It was in pretty good condition bar a couple of holes in the chassis and a bent nose ( which was soon sorted out! ) The shell was pretty good, as were the tyres thou the rears are awfull even for just bashing! My intention with this was to strip most of the white plastic and keep for a rainy day build! Replace with as much rpm stuff as i could lay my hands on, strip and powdercoat the chassis, update the axles to run modern rims and just generally build a nice looking truck ready for some spring racing!

First few pics show the Truck pre tear down and the chassis after stripping with caustic soda

Then we have the powdercoated chassis parts, working at a industrial wheel manufacturer does have its benefits! I used a black grey which i thought came out very nice.

Then the finished article, I managed to find a RC10T RPM bulkhead on the bay mid build so that pretty much finished it off the rpm theme, i kept with the original stealth box rather than rpm as i wanted to keep with the B4 slipper assy.

I have got a new shell to go on when i get chance to paint it but the original will do for the moment.
Now i just have to hold on a few weeks till my clubs vintage series has finished then i can get the electrics out of my team car and into the 10T.

Thanks to all you guys on here, the sharing of your collective knowledge and help along the way is very much appreciated :D

Next i'm gonna try a whats old is new i think, unless something else grabs my attention before i get all the parts

That looks great!
I really like the gray/black/white colour combo of the chassis and it's bits. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback guys, i'm glad you like it :D
As i said i decided to update it as i really wanted to run it, i went down the route of drilling new wheels to fit on the old rear axles but i really didnt want to destroy the precious white nylon! I still have enough white parts to make a original 10T just need to wait till i find a decent tub to put it all on to!
The SC series is starting this week at my club which runs over 6 months and i know there is gonna be a T3 and a T4 running in it. So as i said in my post i'll get the vintage series over and done with and then see how she holds up against the new trucks. I dont think speed will be a problem it'll just be keeping out the way of the SC's as the truck rounds are normally carnage!

Very nice! Love the chassis colour and the body paint scheme!

BTW, There is a way you can press of the RPM top shaft gear and place it on a B4 top shaft!

The rpm parts were bought from tower hobbies. You can also get them from rpm directly or a main etc. Probably be listed under parts for the gt thou. The bulkhead was harder to come by, but they do come up on ebay.
Thanks.

Yeah the some of the gt parts are interchangable arms, hub carriers, axles front bulkhead, noseplate etc. to run modern rims you'll need the gt front axles and t2 rear 3/16th cvds. If you do a search on the forum you'll find all the info you'll need. All the members are always very helpfull, if it wasnt for them i would still be stuck with this truck!
The stealth transmission will run brushless, as long as you dont go stupid!
I've put a t4 topshaft and slipper into this one so i know i wont have problems. They'll be a 8.5 ezrun combo going into this theyre cheap and reliable especially if you your just getting back into it and dont want to break the bank.
Just remember to benefit from the brushless youll need lipo batteries and a suitable charger, again available cheap enough to get you started.

great build Caine! Everything looks good together with that chassis and body. 8.5t brushless motor is a good fit for a 10T
