I suspect that by "exporting" your images before sharing them will remove the meta-data in question, however, I do not know this for a fact.

Re: Protect Your Privacy
Exporting doesn't always mean it will strip the data. In many cases it actually keeps that info.
There is a thing called EXIF http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format, that is the place the GPS data is stored. IT contains info about what device took picture, the settings on the camera and GPS info if the camera has GPS capability. MAny computer programs preserve that data, look at each programs directions to see if it says it will remove the EXIF data or has option to strip that data.
If you have an iPhone and you don't want your pictures to save that data, got to Settings - General - Location Services and then turn of access to the Camera App. THen look there at all the other Apps that are using you GPS info and see if you want to shut those off as well.

Re: Protect Your Privacy
wasn't able to watch the vid (stupid dalup) but saw what it was abut from the title of the page.
i bought my sony alpha a55v because it did have the gps feature. but then gain i use that data to geotag my pics from kayaking trip or hike. it's very easy to just turn it off if i am wanting to take pics that would be concerned about people finding out where they were taken.
now when it comes to phones i truly believe a phone is just that. a phone. if i want to type i will do it on my computer. my phone is solely for people that want to talk to me bad enough to hear my voice.
think the whole "privacy" problem is that people do not understand or know how to use the equipment that they use. just cause they can figure out how to text on the phone don't mean that they know anything about it or how to use it. if these people cared anything about privacy they should learn to use what they have. the biggest privacy concern boils down to the person, not the equipment.
