2.0" Dirt Paw tires from Belgium

Post by Coelacanth »

On the Optima House site, I saw references to these tires as a great replacement for the stock Turbo Optima tires. I'd grab a set but the seller is in Belgium and I'm not sure what the shipping situation would be. I thought I'd check here first in case anybody has a set they'd sell.

conrad is actually a german company so you might as well get them direct from their german site.
And they are closer to 2" than to 1.9 but yes: they look close to the orignal option house tires that joel johnson used for example

I researched this when that post first came out, there are many localized versions of the conrad site for each location / language. There is a conrad.co.uk site, in English even, and if you figure out the url pattern the item ids are the same across all of them. Most only ship to their particular country, and I did find one that seemed to ship every where in the word, for an exorbitant amount, except to the United States. Maybe its different now and they'll ship to the US.

That's the problem. The tires look as good a match to the square-knobby Turbo Optima tires as anything; I've been looking for something like that for a long time now, but I know shipping from Europe to North America can be ridiculously high.

I have a bunch of the cone-spike Turbo Optima tires but none of the square-knob kind, except a pair of narrow fronts. I'd like at least a set of rears to match the knobs of the narrow fronts... :?

Conrad Electronic typically only ship to the country the domain name refers to ( so .de = Germany, .fr France, .be Belgium, etc.). So you'll have to ask someone to order the items for you and send them to the US/Canada.

Maybe there's a member here from the UK who could buy some sets and then ship them to us?

EDIT: I corrected the topic title, the tires are actually Dirt Paw 2.0. I tried emailing their UK email address with a sales inquiry, hopefully they'll reply!

I'd probably take 3 sets myself.

If you use the Conrad.de site, I can help out with shipping them over. If you guys get on it fast, and if there's an option for local pickup, we could do that too. LMK,

Adam

Thanks adam, we might have to go that route. I received a reply to my inquiry email, basically saying to use the Conrad International website. However, when you go to Checkout and choose your country, neither Canada nor USA are in the list (as someone else already mentioned). Weird. The product number is also a bit different, I had to go through all the categories to find the tires:

Guys, I'll try coordinating a group purchase of these tires with adam lancia. Please PM me ASAP with how many pairs you would need. Time is of the essence so get those PMs to me quick. In turn, I'll forward the numbers to Adam and each one of us can send a Paypal payment for the tire sets and shared shipping cost.

So far, including 2 sets for myself, we're up to 10 sets (pairs) of tires wanted. It doesn't look like we're in time for what Adam had in mind, because of his busy work schedule. This wouldn't happen until late May or June unless someone else in the U.K. or Germany can help us out.

I received replies to my emails to both the U.K. & German offices of Conrad, they basically said that due to "high transport- and insurance costs and to possible problems concerning the product liability", they won't ship to Canada or USA. "Delivering our articles within Germany or to any other country except the U.S. and Canada is no problem."

I replied to that saying it was an interesting business practice to refuse business to 2 of the top 9 worldwide economies by GDP, but it's okay for me to buy if I'm from such reputable countries as Afghanistan, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, or Burkina Faso...
