XXT? Recent purchase from a friend - What did I get?
XXT? Recent purchase from a friend - What did I get?
I picked up this buggy(?) from a friend who was getting out of the RC's. I just missed the Nitro truck.
I think it's ~2 years old, run less than 5 times (never raced).
Anyway, it has a XXXT Graphite chassis kit, and the Graphite front/rear arms.
The Speed Controller is a Novak GTX.
All I can see of the motor is a purple label with "Maximum power...".
The Radio is a 2.4 Ghz Dx3 from Spektrum DSM racing system.
I have two 4200 6 cell battery packs.
It's got Deans connectors on the packs/ESC setup.
I know he traded in the stock parts for the Graphite parts right out of the box.
There is also a Super Brain charger with Dean connectors.
The local RC shop probably set it up for him and probably had it set up for Advanced racer class (?).
I have no paper work, no manuals. I can find info on the charger/radio, but other than the Graphite Chassis "XXXT", I'm not sure what it is.

Looking from the underneath at the pivot plate, you can see the gearbox protruding, so i reckon it could be an MF1 or MF2. Its not a XXXT-CR as that did not come with graphite or the lower-CG gearbox, and its certainly not a standard XXXT
Edit: From a little googling, I think this is an MF2...

Ok, XXXT - MF1/MF2
Anyone have a link to a manual, exploded parts diagram?
I found this one.

Re: XXT? Recent purchase from a friend - What did I get?
If I took this truck (?) to my local RC outdoor track what class would it be in (After not racing RC12/10 carpet cars for 15+ years, it may take a while to get my driving skills up to speed).
I see classed called "Truggy", is that a buggy with truck wheels/suspension?
What is Short Course?
Anybody got a basic description of RC classes?

yeah, a truggy is more or less something like an 1/8th scale buggy with a truck body on it. usually very ugly, hahhah....I believe companies like ofna and odonnell make a specific truggy, but I couldn't tell ya more than that. the sheer ugliness steered me away from even learning about that class.
short course is the latest hot class of racing, brought on by the slash and now a slew of other companies have an equivalent offering Associated, Losi, Kyosho, HPI, to name a few. they mimic the short course racing trucks, looking more 'scale' than the typical race truck you are used to seeing. They will have roll cages, front bumpers, mudflaps, etc, and tires and wheels that are more scale as well, including tread pattern.
the wheelbase is much longer than a typical race truck like you have.

You're truck would be classified as Stadium Truck. The MF2 is a great truck, I've got one I converted into a short course truck I race every week.

Def. a xxxt matt francis edition 2 (MF2) I thought they came with CVD-s but none the less a nice truck. I have a MF1 (virtually the same) and is my alltime favorite to drive.
Sleeps with a night light on, not because he's scared of the dark but because the dark is scared of him...........stay thirsty my friends
