Re: Scr8p's shop
alright, to update what actually has been getting done at scr8p's shop
..........
we're almost finished with the 68 hurst olds. there's still some stuff we have to do to it, but it's going home for now until all of the parts we're waiting on come in. the chrome wheel opening moldings just came back from being stripped so we could repair them, then send then back to be chromed. the rear bumper has to get rechromed as well. the one we already had done for this car is now on the gold car from earlier in this thread. the bumper from that car was scratched in the accident, so we used the one from the hurst on it. so now, the bumper from the gold car is on the hurst. we would've sent it out earlier to be redone, but we wanted to get it fit to the body, as well as get the exhaust finalized. so we'll take it back off, and it'll go to the chromer with the wheel opening moldings. we're also waiting on the new seat belts, and a couple other little things to come in. once we have everything, we'll bring the car back to finish it up, and detail it. we have until june or july before it scheduled to go to any shows, so we have time to get it done.
we also have the frame pretty much complete for the 68 442 we're doing. just set the engine/trans in it today. the rear end housing that is going to go in this car is pitted very bad. so, it's gonna take quite a bit of work to make it look go. by the time we actually got the rear for it, took it up to our driveline guy to have him tear it down and got it back, it was too cold outside to be sandblasting. so, we just put in another rear just so we could make it a roller. we'll get the rear done when the weather gets warmer. for now, it's gonna go to the owner's place to be stored until the body of the car is painted and ready to be set back on it. that probably won't be until may/june.

Re: Scr8p's shop
very nice work, I know about the weather. I have a paint booth in my shop, and as hard as it was it became a blast booth for the 67 mustang GT500 clone I am doing for a guy. this weather sucks for us car guys.

This is not knocking your spectacular work, that is one ugly car. I like the sides and back, it's the nose. What were the designers thinking?scr8p wrote:alright, to update what actually has been getting done at scr8p's shop..........

Re: Scr8p's shop
Scr8p finally does something cool!
I took my go-cart to him for a tune up. He said that the motor was shot, so he replaced it. He had to relocate the seat for better sight lines and reaching the drive through window at the local liquor mart.

You know I don't like agreeing with Halgar but I think he's right on this one....Halgar wrote:This is not knocking your spectacular work, that is one ugly car. I like the sides and back, it's the nose. What were the designers thinking?
Yikes! the nose on that thing is hideous to look at...Scr8p, you think you could do anything to make it look a little more desirable?scr8p wrote:

Re: Scr8p's shop
Scr8p is at it again!
I send over my prized possession and tell him to spruce it up a little. Freshen the paint and upholstery, and this is what he sends back!

It's funny ... I look at that car and I can actually *smell* the watermelon air freshner.
Either that or I'm about to have a seizure ...

Re: Scr8p's shop
How did I miss this thread?

I actually rode in this POS. An old friend of mine's parents owned some sort of tv/movie museum in Branson. Before they moved it to Nashville, they purchased this van. It sucked! Took like three guys to remove the nose to open the hood. Overheated badly. But had a cool trap door in the roof so while you were crusing the strip you could hang out up top and yell at girls.
I really like your shop's work. Someday I'll finish my minitruck and move back onto an older truck. Someone stole my 72 F100 SWB while I was beginning to restore it and fix my 17 yr old mistakes. Miss that truck.

Re: Scr8p's shop
I asked scr8p to put a new exhaust system on my car. I think he's over done it a little.
