Send him an email asking to do those, I am willing to bet he will. He's a great guy to talk to.... I have nothing but respect for guys/hobbyists like that.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Sorry to hear that Jay Dub. I'm sure I've seen new sets of these tyres go as much as $180usd. Can I ask what you got yours for?
I'm keen to see these repro's and will no doubt land a set shortly.

$120 USD, but hey it wasn't an investment or anything. I just ended up running them in the street until they were bald, its only money right...

This is prob the most impressive thing reproed to date. It must have been no easy undertaking, but all I can say is WOW! They do feel softer than the originals and there is a texture difference on the top surface of the tire, BUT..... WOW! WOW! WOW! Pic is large to see the detail (sorry if it's annoying).
Nicely done Marwan.

This is pretty cool actually. Is there anything that differentiates them as a reproduction?
Re: Kyosho OT-30 Repros (Javelin Tires) :)
Thank god these tyres have finally been repro'd! The prices that the originals were fetching on Ebay were so ridiculous it was beyond belief....I mean, they are just pieces of moulded rubber.
Marwan deserves a medal! I have one of his Optima repro shells and I rate it along side Mr Lexan's for quality - they are top notch! I have no doubt these tyres will be top quality too. I'm off to go buy a load.....

Other than what feels like a durometer difference and a surface finish, no. I don't have my originals at arm's length at the moment for a true comparison.Jay Dub wrote:This is pretty cool actually. Is there anything that differentiates them as a reproduction?

Re: Kyosho OT-30 Repros (Javelin Tires) :)
I dabbed a bit with injection molding in the auto industry before I left a few years ago. It's a ton of work, cost a ton of money, requires lots of skills/knowledge, and ususally lots of scrap. When I ordered mine, I suggested to Marwan "I bet that was no easy undertaking" and he responded as such.
Visually, they are spot on. Time will tell if they have dry rot issues like the originals are known for.
My hat's off to the man!

Do we know if he remanufactured the molds? Or did he manage to "borrow" the original molds from somewhere.

Re: Kyosho OT-30 Repros (Javelin Tires) :)
Just paid for my set and a repro Optima shell w/decals. Can't wait to see em. Maybe even try and run them.
Re: Kyosho OT-30 Repros (Javelin Tires) :)
Good work, Jason. I too have just paid for my 4 pairs of repro tires (which means I can keep my original unused ones for shelfer purposes only
)...

Re: Kyosho OT-30 Repros (Javelin Tires) :)
What gives? There's now also a guy from Spain selling them on ebay for about the same price as Marwan... Seems like too big a coincidence for them to have independently decided to reproduce them at the same time. Anyway there's a cool picture of an Optima sitting on top of a mountain of tires in the ebay listing.
