Does anyone know if I can use LIPO batteries with a normal TEU 101 tamiya speed controller? Any advice will be much appreciated!

Thanks!

you can, i do, but you need a lipo cutoff or atleast an alarm.
your receiver also needs to be bec capable, most modern rec's are.

i just use an alarm and it works fine with my futaba rec.

I used to run Tamiya M-Chassis' with the teu esc. I used it with a spektrum receiver, and no alarm. If you are racing, you don't really need an alarm. You're only running the car for 5 or 6 minutes at a time... that leaves more than enough volts in the battery before you recharge.
If you are going to use it for 'bashing', running in a parking lot etc, then an alarm is a good idea. It's easy to lose track of time, and over run your battery.
