Picked up a RC10: Future 90's EDM project.

Post by Johnboy72 »

Well been selling off some of my offroad stuff. Putting some money back into my truck and bought a Havoc 2.0. But had an XXXNT AD1 laying around and got a bite off craigslist. Guy asked if I wanted to trade, not really interested in trades but figured what the heck. So he states he has a RTR RC10 gold tub. I immediately think of how this very website has me wanting to get an old RC10 and make it up like my old dirtoval car. So I'm in the process of getting it.

Image
Now my first "competitive" rc was a Blackfoot I raced. My dad purchased a RC10CE. When I showed promise hotlapping the EDM class, he picked up an old Cadillac RC10 for me. No thrills on it. Six gear transmission and raced the wiper speed control for a little bit before upgrading to a Futaba ESC. I even ran Radio Shack 1200 packs. Meanwhile all the good stuff went in my dad's car. So I think I'll keep these electronics and just move things to where we had them.

Gotta move that battery north and south...we didn't run ours like this.
Image
Bling Bling rims. I need to find the old dirtoval waffles for the rear and the smoothie rubber fronts we ran. Think they were Dyamite or something like that. Been so long.
Image
Is this an old Vette late model body?

These pics are from the owner, so I'll try to get some better pictures when I have the car in my hands.

Well if it's in somewhat decent shape, I'll see what I can't do to clean it up and save it for something. Plan to put an EDM body like the ones we used to race, not these out of proportion floppers. lol.

Picked up a pair of Proline Waffles for the rear off DODC. Just need to order the fronts, the RC10 rims I used to run, Andy's T post rear body mount and start on one of my EDM bodies. Doing this from memory really. Nothing to the level some of the builds here. Just plan to make it look like the low budget EDM I had as a kid. And it will be a driver too. I will not be afraid to turn some hotlaps with it!

A part of me says build it like you once had. Another part wants to build it like I the car I wish I had back then. AGH. Decisions.

Trader just linked a video of it running indoors....nervous, was waiting for it to smack into a wall and break. Got a shot of the chassis, might play it for a little bit since it has some scratches. Then restore it. And the tires are bald rubber so hopefully those rims clean up.

Believe the nose is more scratched up but hidden by his paw. Can't wait to start on this...now back to searching this site on how to bleach the parts.

The dirt Tracker Corvette was from Bolink, and is an awesome piece if you ask me, my fav Dirt oval body. Congrats on the car.

What bumper is this? We used to run these and I need one for this project. Thought it was an Andy's.

Well I'm gonna need one. I wouldn't say badly but more info needed. It would be nice to get a white one to match the plastics (haven't decided if I'll dye or not). Do you have pics?
