Sprinter #1 body??????

Post by THE H.P FREAK »

HI!... On my last RC-10 buy I received a ton of extra parts with the 4 RC-10's I bought. One of the exta things was a NIP clear body. It says it's a "SPRINTER #1. I have tried searching for it and can't find any info on it or any finished painted pics. I emailed AE directly and all they told me was it was a body used for the very early RC-10's.

Anyone have any further info of finished pics of this body?

One of AE's sprint car shells, they were not very popular and you had to buy the wing separately

Kinda, more like obscure- I have 2 and there are others floating around and they could be had right from AE in 2006- but It was never a big seller, the car with that shell, and the wing setup that you had to use was junk on the track compared to a BBT sprint, CW sprint etc...

HI!... Well I have a bunch of RC-10's. I wouldn't mind building one of these. Any idea where I can find the two wings? Decals? Any more info om the kit?

HI!... Cool. So the front wing is just a 4" buggy wing trimmed down? Something like this :

Right style, wrong part-the 6186 is a 5.5" wing if memory serves me and you would want the 6182 4" wing- Mr Lexan remakes them-

HI!... O.k Cool! Thanks.

I notice from pics that the top large wing is mounted to what looks like four long rear wing posts. Are these just the regular RC-10 wing posts or specific posts just for the Sprinter #1 body?

IDK, the only ones that I have ever seen mounted were just using the rear regular buggy wing mounts- But I imagine that you could fix a flat piece of lexan inside the body and mount another set of wing tubes in there for some much needed support-

The front pair of wing mounts might actually be nose tube braces. The tubing is the same as the wing mounts, but the nose tubes would be tapped on one end making it easy to screw in from under the chassis to make the vertical supports. I don't have one of the sprinter bodies currently to check the length to prove my theory though.

HI!... That's actually a pretty good idea. I bet that would work! If you look closely at the pic below, that's what it looks like they did. Even if their too long, I can always trim the tubes down to the needed length.
