RC10 B2 / B3
Guys,
Has anyone fitted a B4 slipper clutch system to a B2 / B3 ? If yes please update me on what parts you used.
Also the MIP Uj's are too short, im currently unable to use droop so cant jump properly, so anyone know where i can get a uj thats 3mm longer than what comes in the kit?

Re: RC10 B2 / B3
just buy a b4 topshaft and all related slipper parts.
i'm no b2-b3 expert, never had either one. hopefully someone with more knowledge about them will chime in. but i think there's some differences between the b2 arms and hubs compared to the b3. you might have the parts mixed and matched.

The B4 slipper conversion is covered in a few places here, but you need the B4 top shaft and slipper plates/pads and spring changes to the B4 components. The B44 CVA's are also 3mm longer, but the stock parts are operational for that model. Unless you have a B2 with B2 Universals and B3 rear hubs-

Re: RC10 B2 / B3
The B3 arms are about 1/8" longer than the B2 arms, and the rear hubs were offset by that amount (outboard) so the universals fall in the exact same place on the transmission by design.
If you have B3 arms and B2 hub carriers, the bones would be too far outboard by about 1/8".

take a picture of what you have and we can tell what the problem is. the hub carriers look a little different so you can tell right away which ones you have.

Re: RC10 B2 / B3
Thanks for such a quick response. Much appreciated.
Im using b2 rear arms and hubs with mip ujs but they are just inside the edge of the outdrive, so my shocks have to be limited so the wishbones cant go any lower than level as if more and they pop out. The B3 rear wishbones and hubs are different and ive got a used set so know the difference. I will investigate the B44 ujs, as thats one issue sorted if the right length.
I will buy the b4 slipper assembly but am unsure if the gear on the shaft is the same as the B2 /B3.

Re: RC10 B2 / B3
the slipper stuff will fit, same number of teeth on the gear.
maybe those MIP CVD's are wrong, or were mislabled? Sounds very odd. A set of B44 rear CVDs would be longer and might fix the issue, but i would rather try and understand what is going on myself.
snap a couple pics, it might help.

Re: RC10 B2 / B3
Cheers guys. The B4 slipper option is the way I will be going as the current B2 and B3 cant handle a 5.5 motor on carpet so to prevent burnout the B4 system will have to be installed. Also the B2 rear wishbones are shorter than the B3 so work better on this car. The front has the B3 wishbones and this makes the car wider at the front so you can better dial the car for corners as it keeps the front more stable and the rear just follows no matter what, plus you get more steering than you would ever need with the 25 degree blocks. The B3 blocks are not as good either and makes the car less aggressive so I have opted to stay with the B2 front and rear hubs and blocks.
Pics attached, sorry about the quality. The UJs are too short for this car even though they are from MIP for B2/B3. Shocks are spaced to prevent the UJ popping out, but it will with a crash. The inner hole is used and you can see hardly any droop on the rear wishbones, hence why I need more specifically for jumps. The car on flat carpet is dialed and can compete with the best of them, but the jumps cost me a shed load of time and thats what is costing me ten or so places. Ive added 200g brass plates under the cells and made a carbon fibre rear tower which is as thick as the standard one, I've fitted schumacher wing mounts to save the wing.

There is a post comparing the length for the b2/b3 mip's and the thunder tiger cvd's. But I can't find it. The thunder tiger cvd's sit about half way into the outdrives.

I have a T3 that I am dropping a lower (3200kv) motor into so I can run 3s. Is there a noticeable difference between the B3 and B4 slipper?scr8p wrote:just buy a b4 topshaft and all related slipper parts.
i'm no b2-b3 expert, never had either one. hopefully someone with more knowledge about them will chime in. but i think there's some differences between the b2 arms and hubs compared to the b3. you might have the parts mixed and matched.
