Re: Hot Trick Red Ultima - The car in my dreams
Thanks guys!
Yeah, I was considering gold shocks too, but I think it will be too much gold and it'll look tacky.
I will give it a try, but we'll see.
Now it's just missing the rear stiffener and a motor guard from Hot Trick.
Let me know if you got something to spare!

Nah, I don't think gold shocks would be tacky at all, it'll tie in nicely with the gold wheel inserts, turnbuckles & axles and give your overall color scheme more cohesiveness. That's just a personal preference & opinion, mind you. I think cars with more than 2 or 3 main colors can get pretty gaudy.

Looking great! Nice to see updates to this build. I think the gold shocks would go well with the Tech Racing gold parts. Makes me want to get back to my Red Ultima build. Chris

Holy Cow! Man you did a good job on this car. You definately have some serious money tied up in this one. The results totally are worth every penny you spent, the car is fantastic.

You got a point. I got some gold ones and I'll try them on once I have some spare time.Coelacanth wrote:Nah, I don't think gold shocks would be tacky at all, it'll tie in nicely with the gold wheel inserts, turnbuckles & axles and give your overall color scheme more cohesiveness. Thanks Jake! I've had a lot of luck with most of the parts. Some, not that lucky.bigjeepzz wrote:Holy Cow! Man you did a good job on this car. You definately have some serious money tied up in this one. The results totally are worth every penny you spent, the car is fantastic.

The outcome is pretty nice, huh?
Even my wife thinks it looks fantastic, and she is hard to impress with anything except Xray M18 series.

Yep! I started down the Vintage path with an XL-1 Bandit, Losi LXT and Tamiya Stadium Thunder. Now i have added a gold pan to the mix. The Bandit is more of a restomod since i retrofitted a VXL trans and VXL wheels to it. The LXT i have simply just mildly cleaned it up and ran it. The Gold pan will see a tear down and clean up. After im done with the Gold pan i may take on cleaning up and restoring the LXT next. (unless i buy another Gold pan that is lol)walfre wrote:Thanks man! The vintage bug is a pain in the @ss. The tires on the sprint are Duratrax both front and rear you see them on ebay from time to time Imex also made a similar tire. This project looks great I love the tech racing parts I have been looking to grab the tech racing parts for awhile with no luck. Great build!!!walfre wrote:murphy3428 wrote: I agree the hot trick parts do look awsome with the gold tecnacrafts here is my only hot trick build. Thank you!
I've seen your work murphy, and the all look awesome! That 30's sprint car is a beauty!
What tires did you use on that? Some kind of slicks, right?

I'll guess you'll add at least one more Gold pan.Darkrider wrote:Yep! I started down the Vintage path with an XL-1 Bandit, Losi LXT and Tamiya Stadium Thunder. Now i have added a gold pan to the mix. The tires are really sweet, but I'll guess this one will use some offroadish tires. But then again, time will tell.murphy3428 wrote:The tires on the sprint are Duratrax both front and rear you see them on ebay from time to time Imex also made a similar tire. I think I saw a set of Tech Racing rods in fireboy's store.
Thanks for the positive comments, Chris!
