Tc3 "O" ?
Tc3 "O" ?
After the countless hours I have spent reading this forum I was actually surprised that I had no account when I wanted to ask you guys a question ! Ok It's done ( thanx for the quick account activation BTW) and perhaps it will make me participate more to your discussions. I DO own a tub RC10 but it's still not restored and frankly when I see the job some of you manage to do on these cars, I don't think I'll ever show you mine cause it's ( comparatively) pretty boring, no incredible hop-up, far from being a shelf queen... It'll eventually run ( I run all my cars or almost) but... later. Oh, and I'm from Switzerland. While I'm at it, thanks to Mikedealer for the RCCA archives...
More to the point, and as the title sums it, I'm looking for info on this off road TC3 conversion. I've searched this forum of course, and so far the only piece of info I got is that Mr Reichert has or had one. If anyone has pictures, setups, opinions, whatever about this car, please share ! If there is already a dedicated thread, admins please move this message into it. If not... Let's start here!
a few links about the tc3O

Re: Tc3 "O" ?
two pix from my computer. The first one shows one of the early prototypes. The second shows the car I bought used.

Re: Tc3 "O" ?
It was being made right around the same time that Jason Ruona and Brad Reelfs were designing and building the BJ4 as Jconcepts. Obviously, one car was working better than the other, and it caught on and won the World Championships. The BJ4 will go down in R/C history (as now it is the B44), and the TC3O is an afterthought that didn't work all that well.
Because of that, though, it might be one VERY sought after contemporary 4wd buggy in the future.

Re: Tc3 "O" ?
Thanks for answering... I guess it is probably the unusual factor which made me want one, but the car seems to works decently considering Neil Cragg raced competitively with it. That's what the owner of RCPD says though... it's in one of the links above.
Neil Cragg still has not responded to the PM I sent him on oOple a few months ago.

Re: Tc3 "O" ?
The simple answer is—one of those TC3-based car companies is still around, and one isn't.
As a side note, I think owning one of those would be a very cool "get" for a collector. No doubt, far more interesting to own than an original BJ4.

Re: Tc3 "O" ?
Thanks a lot for these pictures ! I just love living in 2010. Well, not all the time. Whatever.
I ran the car fo the first time today ! it was one improvised practice day as guests at a track in France, 30 km away from Geneva, and it was just übercool ! The car woked really nicely considering I had the most approximate setup ever. I had just taken a look a some buddy's B44 last week to have a ballpark ( is that the word ?) about the droop settings, springs to use, etc. I had the crappy tires that you can see on the pic above, and in spite of that I really could go around the track easily, car was very forgiving, jumped really flat. I just lacked a bit of steering throw, but I will definitely look for solutions, even if I have to break out the dremel and attack those c-hubs ! Car is muddy. I 'm quite happy.
About the pictures 59burst has shown, there are several things I like more on this proto car than on my own car which is the V2. For instance the two alu front side braces, they should give stifness that is something my car lacked until I put reinforcement rods. I also grinded the rearbraces cause i wanted mor flex there. Doing this was common with the onroad tc3. Longitudinal flex is bad also, and until V3 it had not been adressed. But I came up with an idea to improve that, it will be implemented soon.
Pictures coming when the car is clean !
Keep the info coming guys !

Re: Tc3 "O" ?
the biggest improvement was to use mip cvd's intead of just making some. the mip's last longer. the original tc3 "o" also has no slipper(we told him it wasn't needed) he added a slipper later and it was nice.
notice in the still shots the sticker on the wing says bigblock motors.....i wound the motor for the car in the article

Those one off, prototypes and custom rigs I think are some or the best to read about....
