Greetings from the West!

Post by Westcoast10z »

Ran into an old buddy of mine who I sold my rc10 to back in the 80's (nice old parma-arm two-bellcrank edinger), he said he thought he might still have it somewhere. He didn't (aw well I drilled it anyway  ), but waiting to find out re-started the itch. Started poking around online and found this place. Couple of days combing the tech forum and decided on ab ebay rescue/resto. So here it is so far... I know it's not quite as awesome  as most of the stuff here but I wanted a beat-down car I could run! Boy that peroxide trick is a miracle. The pic makes it look a little whiter than in person, I wanted a little "vintage" left on there..

So thanks for the help, guys... never would have got it together half as nice, that's for sure. Or tried pipe cleaners!
Oh and one more thing... years after I stopped racing in the 80's I bought a car on a whim, built and boxed it (I think I musta been short cash  ) So all these years later it turns out I lucked out, 'cause it's a Worlds Car!   I'd photo it with the body, but my paint job is embarrasing! Gonna try to strip/redo it (the paint! Not that chassis! ), it's in good shape.... Anyways pleased to meet youse all! Thanks again!

Thank you! Whenever I see your user name I think of when I used to race Parma slot-cars at the big track we still had here in town in the 80's. Also I must compliment your monumental "25 years of" thread.....

Nice couple of cars to start with! The worlds car is immaculate but the gold tubs are always my favorites. Very nice job on the rebuild. Oh, and welcome!

That is a nice pair of cars you have man. Welcome to the board. Go get some electircs to throw in that gold pan and give the car a good run. You will be hooked.

As far as lexan goes, Mr Lexan here does the Worlds car shell repros and sells here as well as eBay. I know he recently moved and is still in the process of setting up his shop. Once he gets settled in I am sure he will be making the bodies again. That is much easier than trying to strip an old body.

Thanks guys! :D I can't wait to bash that goldy, it's nice and beat-up, so no reason not to! It actually came from the Bay with an unpainted Viper body, so I'm trying some of the painting techniques I've read about on here (Bob Divley mask etc) and should have some pictures up soon. 8)

You know Jake now that you say it I may well just let that original shell be and get an ML repro, I hope he gets going again soon! I had my eye on that Super-Champ style too. Oh and btw I must compliment those machined nose-rods on your Old & New Buggy, just wow....
