Trinity LeMans 240S
Hi
I got hold of a nice NIB motor! It’s a Kyosho LeMans 240S that is modified and tuned by Trinity. It even has its one series number “95-168”. That I discover when I opened the bag and red the bi packed tow documents from Trinity! And I wonder if any one off you guys knows any thing more about this, wind etc…
Regards
Lars

Re: Trinity LeMans 240S
That's pretty cool--I never knew Trinity used Kyosho Le Mans motors as the basis for some of their own motors. I wonder what the specs on that motor are? Turns, rpm...intriguing!

Re: Trinity LeMans 240S
Trinity used Kyosho cans in the begining.
Not sure but i think it is a different wind to the 240S. I also think Trinity bought out the Kyosho motor factory and renamed it EPIC.
Erni Povertie ??? Corperation. All EPIC motors were made in Japan.
I remember the Trinity Mod motor was around $160 Au. A Kyosho Le Mans or Spa was $80.
So that was over a week wages for me No its close to 2 weeks wages.

Re: Trinity LeMans 240S
I have the same motor sitting here. I originally bought it for my 1987 RC10 project, but eventually found the proper Trinity Monster stock motor for the car. I probably won't use it now...
I want to say that the "Sprint" motor is a 17-double wind intended for modified 2wd and 4wd 7-cell off road. I'm not 100% positive, but that is my belief. It is also definitely a Trinity wound arm, which at that time would have probably been a "Big Jim" Greenmeyer-wound motor (Checkpoint). I'm going on memory here, so don't quote me on that.
BTW, Ernie Provetti own(ed) Trinity and EPIC stands for Ernest Provetti Importing Company. Team Epic is the new name of Team Trinity currently.

Re: Trinity LeMans 240S
Didn't Ernie buy Kyosho motors because he did not want to be supplied by yokomo as everyone else was?

Re: Trinity LeMans 240S
That sounds like a reasonable explanation! And if it is as Mad Racers says, that Trinity purchased the Kyosho motor plant to start making there own motors.drbelleville wrote:Didn't Ernie buy Kyosho motors because he did not want to be supplied by yokomo as everyone else was?

Re: Trinity LeMans 240S
A local guru recently told me a story on this topic - he said Ernie and a young Joel Johnson (maybe 14 yrs-old or so) went to some Championships in Japan (1/12 scale on-road, I think) and Ernie was trying to procure a bulk batch of Kyosho motor canisters to make Trinity motors.
Kyosho was skeptical to provide canisters for a relatively unknown team (Trinity), until after the race - Joel had done so well that Kyosho sold Ernie the first 200 canisters, which of course became the first batch of aluminum endbell Trinity motors...
((I have one of these motors in red (called Trinity "Sprint") and one in gold (Trinity "Pure Gold").))
