
Sand Scorcher / Rough Rider differances?

Sand Scorcher / Rough Rider differances?
I just got a couple parts cars & noticed when cleaning them that the trans housings are different as well as the front end... So how do I tell which is wich???

There are only minor differences between the two. What you are seeing are the differences made during the production run

So is one better thaan the other?
here are the pics:
notice the rear of trans case is solid in first pic & only a nub in second. Also the arm in pic 2 has an extra beering.


Shock tower in pic 1 has cast nubs to hold the spring & 2 uses screws.

Which it better is a toss up. The front tower two with the screws is older. The one with pins is less costly to make and accomplishes the same task. Personally I think the double bearing rear arms are the best and I have then on my runner. I think why they changed to the single bearing is because the wimpy stock rear axles would bend and bind up in the A arm housing.

Have you seen the "single side rear arms"? (not the stock A arm stile, but just like a real 1/1 VW)) Not sure who makes them or if they are still available or not. i saw them on someones scorcher on ebay & thought they were cool & might be stronger depending on what grade alum they were made of.
I added a pic of the lot I got - the large bronz front body mount + front spindals & shocks for second car. (forgot to put them in the pic.
