Carbon Fiber Transmission Brace

Post by sneako43 »

What is the advantage of this part? Is it that big of an improvement over the stock piece? Basically, does it make any difference to have one??

It's a more rigid piece than the stock nylon and also less weight. Is it a big difference that you would notice? Probably not. It's more of a wizzy bit and an opportunity to put carbon fiber on your car. 8)

Plus it transmits energy to the transmission case better when you short the triple, causing you to need a new tranny case

Funny, My old 10t has that brace on it, and I never had any transmission issues, then again, I hardly shorted any triples.... :)

I wish these reproduced Worlds parts were made of a thicker carbon fiber. They have a LOT of flex in them, especially the shock towers. A surprising amount, actually.

I think later production of the brace was thicker, I'll have to double check, but the one on my 10T was an earlier one and is thinner.

I'm speaking of the re-made ones from our fellow forum member, Atlas. Most of the ones you'll find on the new-old cars are the re-makes, as the originals are so hard to find, and so expensive when you find them.

Ah, yes! saw the aluminum bits he's selling on the bay and thought they might be nice for a future show piece idea...
