Update. Madcap project for Luke...
got this last night & dont know much about them.... couldnt find pics ot info on the tamiya site... only sais that its discontinued. anyone know much about them?
not sure what my plans are for it yet... just couldnt pass it up. All i had to do was change the guys tires & it was mine.. (What a job for a disabled person with a bad L sholder & wrist, back, & both legs!)
his friends dog got ahold of it & beat up the body & the motor mount plate is tore out, Ill probably just make an alum one. other than that it looks like it had very little use.

Re: Madcap
The Astute/Kingcab/Hilux racer motor plates are on ebay all the time and are also made of aluminum. Brand new instruction manuals and decal sets are still available from Tamiya USA (last time I checked)

Re: Madcap
ok ill look for those on ebay...
Tamiya shows nothing for the mad cap at all....
If its going to cost too much Ill just sell or trade it off.

Re: Madcap
tamyia club has pics of the car and also a manual you can veiw or download. Also TBG has a body for it on ebay. Clean it up spend around 50 bucks for a body and paint and you will have a nice buggy. The decals might be problem but there is a set on ebay for sale.

Re: Madcap
I had one of these when they were new. They came with 2 spur gears. A 70 and 77t one. The 70 with a 23t pinion (metric 0.6 pinion, not 48p) was good fun with a standard 540 motor but anything hotter its best to use the 77t one.
Best advice is keep the motor mild, add the aluminium motor mount, ball race it and add some cheap oil shocks and it is good fun for a runner.

Re: Madcap
Im just not atached to this car.
So Im going to make the motor plate. if i can find some of the electronics cheep or free, Im going to toss them in & try to get it as close to RTR as posible. & then its getting shipped off to a guy i know with a young neibor boy who has nothing & parrents who dont spend time with him...
Anyone know how long it usualy takes to get access to the buy/ sell aria?

Re: Madcap project for Luke...
Here is the car as of a couple weeks ago. I put in a old traxxas servo, radio & reciever.
I have the alum motor plate built & in the car. Its not as nice as the aftermarket ones you can get, but will hold up as well...
like to thank "SofaKing" for sending a new tamiya 540 motor..
Thanks to "civilguy" I have a ESC & a spare motor to send along with the car so Luke will have quite some time to play with the car (if something should happen to one of the motors)
Also like to thank "tulsa" for sending a coulpe battery packs so he can have one in the car playing & one on the charger charging.

Man, take care of yourself first! The toys can wait.
Sorry about your troubles on RCU.
