what size lipo to use on brushed motor's?

Post by Kayne »

I want to use lip''s in my b4 that is currently running a team Orion motor and a traxxas xl5 esc. I am currently running the stock pinion and spur.not sure of the turns on the motor I got it brand new with a auction I won. I eventually want to go brushless in the b4 and my old is new 10. I also want a charger that can handle lipo's and the older stuff and that can also charge more than one at a time. Any help with this will be greatly appreciative.

The xl5 will handle 8 cells or 9.6 volts.
So no problem with a 2S lipo,7.4 volts.
I ran a 2S 5000 lipo through my sons xl5.
The turns on the motor will matter more for the gearing,
or heat issues. Not so much the battery, until you go to 3S.
If you had a pic or the name of the Orion motor,
I am sure someone else here could help you with that.
I use the Onyx 230 charger, with the Equinox balancer.
It will handle all types of batteries and works wonderful.
I got both together through Tower's scratch and dent dept.
for half the reg. price of the charger alone.
There are many chargers these days for half the price,
with more functions. Onyx has no discharge for nimh or cycle functions.
There is A LOT more to learn about parallel charging, than what I can type on here.
I don't know the rules about linking to other sites.
I solder my own plugs, but I read for a few months
before I really understood the world of Serial and Parallel charging.
Sorry so long. There is a lot of knowledge to learn
when it comes to charging 2,3,6 or more packs at a time.
Although once you learn, it all does become pretty simple.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to pony up and pay for the access to the tower scratch and dent. If the prices are that good. I know there are some chargers already set up to do multiple batteries at once. I'll just have to do some more reading. Thanks again.

No need for any special access.
Tower's Outlet Store.

I never knew it was there for along time either.
