That truck has a Tamiya TA-02 chassis. There are a ton of hop ups for it but regardless what you do to it, it will always be a touring car chassis. I think the single most important upgrade is an aluminum motor mount. Wheels are 1.9 size touring wheels and there are all sorts of offroad tires in that size so the choice is up to you.

i absolutley love this chassis, i'm partial to the buggy's.
df01 (buggies, and the newer touareg/cayanne and the new lancer) ta01 (long wheelbase touring car) ta02 (short wheelbase touring car / 4wd truck)

here's a great site for upgrades: http://asiatees.com/model.php?brand=Tamiya&model=TA01&pid=1

i beat the heck out of my df01 buggy, i run a 9t 35amp ezrun and it blows away my nieghbors vxl traxxas vehicles with ease.

I dont know were your going to run it, but I have the Hummer same chassis. I love it, its so cool to to drive it. I like the real looks of it. but its kinda slow and its hung up a lot so I ordered one of these and it should help alot in the dirt. you might want to get one also?

If I recall correctly, those chassis have a gear front diff and a ball diff in the rear. I'd skip the spool, it would make turning a chore.

I agree I wanted more traction for some light crawlin but its to much work to get it to work. oh well it was only a 20 dollar lesson.
