A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
Hi all,
I just aquired a brand new 6301 "A" stamp black chassis (w/o stealth holes). My question is what version of the rc10 would have come with this style chassis. I thought once the chassis went black all the cars had stealth trannys or were at least drilled for them. I also got a brand new 6300 "B" stamp gold chassis (with stealth holes). I am pretty sure this was the factory chassis for late model championships cars? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
it's not correct for any version, since a 6 gear buggy with a black tub wasn't offered as a kit (not that i've seen/heard). it's simply a replacement chassis.
Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
That is what i though. I really needed a black chassis for a rc10t truck build. I guess i could drill this one out to fit the stealth Although i would rather not.

Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
I drilled out my first chassis for stealth holes last week. Boy, I was nervous about messing it up. I made sure I had a solid flat surface, some wood blocks, and some clamps. I do not recall the drill bit specs but it was a standard counter-sink bit. It was probally made for wood but worked ok on the aluminum. I was very pleased with the results and would do it again. I used a old AB chassis with stealth holes as a template. I clamped the two chassis with the bottoms together and marked the holes. I did use a small bit first, for a pilot hole before I used the counter-sink bit. Also, it's key to make sure the counter-sink bit is drilled in at a true vertical position. If you drill at an angle, at all, the couter-sink holes will be "off".

Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
Or you can send it to me. I will be happy to cut it, mill it, drill it, and drive it.

Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
You can fashion a shim between the chassis and the stealth tranny (and the the rear arm mounts) - mounted a SC10 tranny on a TQ10 chassis like that - so I didn't have to drill holes in it. The shim uses the existing mounts on the chassis and the tranny mounts to the shim (hidden screws) and the shock tower. I did a rough cut with limited tools (basically a dremel and a drill) out of a polypropylene cutting board for it is slightly easier to work with (though melts easier) - planned to redo nicer but it turned out pretty solid and not sure I'll get around to prettying it up anytime soon.
Raises the rear and tranny from the chassis 1/8 or 1/4" (just enough to be thick enough for the hidden screw heads) but works great. Might be a little more difficult since the RC10 has the motor curl on the back (the TQ doesn't) but I am sure it is doable.

Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
I think thats the one I picked up. Anyway I drilled it for a stealth using the stealth drill jig. I used a 3/8" drill for the counter sink .Lowgear wrote:I don't know what the market value on them is but I sold mine not too long ago and it went for $61. I thought I would get more. Re: A STAMP BLACK CHASSIS QUESTION
Oh well, one less undrilled chassis on the market makes yours even more rare!
Too bad for rc10racer, but it looks like he did a very nice job!
