Johnson vs. Mabuchi silver can stock motor's.

Post by scottmac74 »

Is there a difference between the Johnson and Mabuchi silver can stock motors? I have one of each and the only difference I can tell is the Johnson is shiny(er). I know they aren't relevant motors (at least for our purpose's here), I keep these so a novice family member/friend who wants to bash with one of my MRC MT's, won't be overwhelmed and drive (i.e. speed) past their ability. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know they're both about the same as far as specs go, it's just more fun to show off your Johnson than your Mabuchi.

But you can blind your opponents with a Mabuchi!

Mabuchi is Japanese for 'sunshine'. :)

People here in Belgium found there was enough difference between the 2 (with Johnsons being a little better); at local races where stock class enforced you to use a Mabuchi 540, the Johnson was not allowed.

That's how Tamiya sells the Johnson as a hopup. "540 Type J"
