Quick shiny cvd tip

I'm sure it's happened to all of us. That tiny set screw that holds the tiny pin comes loose, then you're hunting for your axle. Here's a couple of tips that might help out.

First...to replace that tiny pin(which is long gone) you can use a large paper clip. The diameter is just about identical. Clip off a piece and file it down so it's flush. Reassemble the cvd as normal, then as a little 'insurance', use heat shrink tubing around the end. Now that pin can't come out.

The shrink tubing is a great idea I'll have to try. But I have used the shaft of a 1/16" drill bit (shortened with a dremel) to replace the pin. It also works well, and is a nice hard metal.

I cut off a peice of body clip, most of my cvd's have body clips in them they last longer than the stock ones.

The local "team" drivers at my track use a drop of loctite and sharpen the set screw so it digs into the pin more. So far I've went over a season with no screws backing out.

If you don't have loctite, raid the wife's fingernail polish and find some clear. It works like loctite, but cheap and releases with minimal pressure.

The shrinktube on the CVD is a great tip.
