Holiday surprise

Post by purpletimbo »

Well, me and the good lady took of to Northumberland for a few days, we were wandering towards a Castle, when the owner drove out in a new Bentley Continental GT, wearing an owners club shirt, I thought, ah well that's where my entrance fee is going.
The big shock though, walked into a courtyard and woah, 2 weeks old

and it is a Shelby as well

I know this is nuts, but my MOM of all people owns a Shelby GT500. Tons of forward thrust and that's about it. Nice transmission, though.

And it just instantly became the uncoolest car there is to you LOL

That must have been pricey over there. I knew a guy, who knew a guy, from one of the Norweigan countries, came to college in the US and bought a Ram Air Trans Am. He drove it here for 4-5 years, had it shipped over when he moved back home, and sold it there for more than he paid for it new.

My friend's dad wanted to name her Carroll, after Carroll Shelby, and her made said no way in hell. The closest she'd let him get was 'Shelbie'.

Nothing wrong with fast Moms, mine drives a Suzuki Swift, complete with alloys and a spolier, and although she is pushing 80, she still does Highways and multilanes, whereas my other half won't, so if I need to collect a new car from a distance, my Mom is called on.
As to prices, that Shelby here cost £50-55,000 or $80,000.
How much are they over there, it is a LHD as well.
Mind you, his Continental second hand is over $200,000 worth.

The Ford website says right about $50,000 for the GT500.

Virtually doubles to get one imported here, our import tax system stinks.
Any reasonable priced car anywhere is $15,000 here.

I have no problem with that as long as she NEVER buys a GM car!

I plan to name my first girl Shelby. That might not happen for a while though if my luck doesn't change soon!
