Anyone ever fly with rc stuff?

Post by Blownbimer »

Anyone ever take their rc toys on a plane? My girlfriend and I are flying to omaha, and would like to take our stampedes. I just want to make sure If I check them, and the nimh batteries, they won't think that they are a bomb and take em from me. :D The tsa web sight says non spillable batteries are okay, so Im guessing im fine. Any experiances would be awsome!

Thanks!
Erik

My sister is giving me a civic, so Im flying in and driving back. Were going to spend a few days, and the brother in law is having work done on his hand while were there, so thought we'd bring the RC toys sence he will be off work. :D Plus, I like raiding the hobbytowns there to see what old RC10 stuff I can find

Plus, i was born in milliard, and got my first RC10 in 89 and raced at the salvation army...I wonder if they still do that....

Oh, and im in Broomfield Colorado right now.....Guess I should fill out my profile :D

I've flown a couple of times. Once, They kept my RC stuff in cali (because of batteries) and got it the next day.

Probably best to check w/ airline. BEst thing is to declare it ahead of time and let them know so not to cause a panic.

If you're worried about having the batteries in your luggage just tuck them in your belt around your waist.

I put my RC stuff in a plastic footlocker for travel. Just a warning though, I locked mine cause 1 hinge likes to come open when being thrown around by the baggage handlers. Use something like those hiking clips to keep it shut, TSA WILL cut your lock off. Then they will jumble everything around and spill your shock oil... now I know

Check the equipment in, tape the batteries to your chest, and all should be fine.

Another idea would be to Ups or usps the car and eqiupment to them before the trip. What the airlines charge for baggage now days it might be cheaper anyway.

Rc stuff made it! However, the girlfriends makeup bag was lost by the TSA. Jerks.
