I have been thinking this same thing almost 20 years now. Why Yokomo used very high and very outward shock towers at the 1991, 1993 and 1995 world's? Those tracks didn't seem to so different from other tracks (OK: 1991 track did have that "surf section") and those shock positions were not used in practice nowhere else.
