That's Nissan's second commercial featuring R/C cars:

From the late 90s, RCCA had an article about it. The chassis was a Tamiya TA01 or TA02, and the body and wheel caps were made out of resin by the production company.

An old buddy of mine actually drove the car for the video. it was pretty cool. Sadly, that car was long since destroyed. My friend tried to get one to keep. The story goes, the look they wanted for the car going thru the door, was just too tight, and my friend kept clipping it. Durring a meeting and discussion, he quietly slipped over to the door and opened it a tad more and wallah, the next take he made it through the doorway!

As the owner of the classic Kyosho Pathfinder, i like this sequel.

I remember that part about the door. We emailed each other a few times about this 1/24 monster truck he built, like 5-6 years before any minis and micros were being made.

A lot TV/movie props are destroyed, just because they take up room and they don't want people scrounging for souveniers. In the Lord of the Rings movies, they had to use new 'hobbit feet' every day, and they completely shredded the old ones. I've heard most of the prop cars made for movies and commercials and car shows are usually destroyed, because it's a liability to have them around or to sell them. If they are sold they are often modified to point that they can't be driven, so nobody goes tearing around in the Batmobile, crashes and kills a bunch of people, and blames the studio.

You can always tell when a prop is really from a movie, because it usually looks like all beat up and wrecked.

Why go through all that trouble to make a good looking sentra body when the wheels stick out so much? The detail is great but the wheels hanging out really killed it for me.

Ah yah; totally forgot about that classic spot with the 300z!

Very cool!

And yah I agree about the wheels in the new one; they could have done better to match the stock wheels.
