Besty's 870c Dog Fighter.

Post by Bormac »

After finding out my good buddy Chris has a sweet old Dog Fighter I wanted to lend him a hand with getting it ready for the race track.
This car was in need of a little work but not past its prime. Chris also got a hold of one of Mr Lexan's 870c Dogfighter shells and I put my hand up to do the paintwork.
For me the 870c is an iconic look from the 1980's off road racing scene and Im a big fan of these cars.
I'll update this post as things progress but for now here's the shell.

Needless to say that I am more than happy with the way Jason has done this car justice.
Can't believe what an amazing job you did Jason. When the shock parts arrive it will be awesome to have a drive of this classic car.
I'm a bit scared of scratching that top paint job though.
Thanks heaps mate. :-)

That looks brilliant 8) The way youve blacked the detail parts and then made them pop out with the white is really good then theres the white stickers which compliment the white and a touch of subtle blue for colour. SIMPLY FABULOUS

Very pretty! It looks quite realistic. Chris, don't worry about scratching it. As long as Jason is around you can alway get him to do another one.

Chris helping you out is a pleasure mate. Thanks for the comments NRG. Here's the shell resting on the chassis. Still awaiting the shocks but getting there. :D

Nice. A+ color combination and really good work framing the windows. That touch sets it off!

you know, i don't like that body nearly as much as the protech, but you did a fantastic job with it, I really love the color combo and detail work!

BTW, what is that red bulkead? is that just a painted stock one?

That is gorgeous! This is maybe the nicest 870C I've seen to date!

Yes rear bulkhead is painted to match a body I painted ages ago .
I will strip the paint of to make it white again I think or paint it black.

Black will be nice. id probably mask a strip at the back so it leaves a red line like a brake light :D

Hi Just wanted to show the car in action.
We took them down to Castle Hill for a run yesterday.
Bormac did a great job on the car and the paint looked awesome in the sun.
Many thanks also to NRG for the shock rebuild parts.
Enjoy
