Redcat Racing
Has anybody had anything to do with their products? They don't have a distributor down here so I thought I'd check it out. They sent me a price list and their cars are cheap...really cheap like $160 for a 1/8 4x4 nitro Short Course truck..there has just got to be a catch..what is it
Heres one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310181689008&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Re: Redcat Racing
I have been looking at them for ages, they do a swell 1/5 petrol and the Slash rip off is cute, but I don't know anyone with first hand experience, and the shipping to here kills the deal

Re: Redcat Racing
The only problem I have had with these cheaper cars is all the alloy components are of very soft material. My mate had a light collision with a pole and bent his chassis.
Re: Redcat Racing
They're throwaway cars, poorly made and designed. It would be wiser to invest in a reputable manufacturer.

Re: Redcat Racing
I've always viewed them as an off the wall company that randomly sprung up like Megatech or something for example. Nothing you would want to waste your money on in my opinion.

Re: Redcat Racing
Hi. I have been importing some stuff from what I believe is their supplier - bsd racing
I have a couple of 1/8 lipo cars as well as a rock crawler. I have found them to be pretty good .
Especially for the price. I was concerned about getting spares so I decided to import directly from bsd.
Now I have a mountain of spares.
Only things I have found is that the 1/8 car lost a king pin. So I loctited them and have not had another issue except for one leaking shock cap which wasn't tightened up.
My mate drove his into a toilet block wall (lol) and his car barely had any damage. Cracked a plastic piece on the front.
It's really up to the buyer though.
I just wanted a 1/8 brushless car and for the price it was hard not to buy one.
Spares are an issue too as they are not the common on eBay for example.

Re: Redcat Racing
The catch is that you will be purchasing (read- sending your money to another impoverished country, away form your own local economy, in return for) a low quality product made/assembled by severly underpaid poorly cared for (read- slaves) laborers. Who work in factories that have no regard for the environment and dump toxins and industrial waste into their local ecosystem. In turn these companies will pay their laborers in rice and a salary of about 25 cents a day (and allow them to stay in compounds on the factory property). Just so you can either turn a quick penny or have a blast thrashing this POS you really care little about because it was "cheap". Have a nice day. -Jeff

Re: Redcat Racing
That's a pretty harsh guilt trip on anyone who bought anything Redcat. I suppose you only shop at the local hemp market for your clothing and grow your own food?
I had a few 1/18 buggies that were actually knock-offs of Redcats-- those must have been built by the unborn fetuses of those slave laborers building the Redcats.
Anyway, they were ok and I could find parts on eBay-- a step up from ToysRUs but not much.
Edit: I have no experience with their nitro models.

The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Re: Redcat Racing
Hey Jeff,
You raise valid points there.
However the pictures i have seen of their factory look no different to the one i used to work in in Sydney. If anything they look cleaner and better lit.
I am not too concerned with sending money overseas because I am unaware of any Australian RC manufacturers (Although I am sure there must be some)
so all of my RC money goes overseas to one country or another.
Why should I pay double or triple the price to buy a different brand of RC car if I am happy with quality of parts I am recieving at a great price?
I am unsure as to the accomodation and pay rates for the employees of BSD racing or on their environmental policy so I can not comment on that.
Rest assured I will enquire about it next time I speak to my associate there.
I cant email them at the moment because they are on a 3 week holiday for Chinese new year.
I have not taken personal offence to your comments, just sharing my thoughts on why I buy from them.

BWHAAAAHAA!! I wasn't actually serious, It was my type of sarcasm
. However, I do beleive we can all (myself included) be more responsible with our money and have a better understanding of what type of repercussions our actions have both locally and abroad. -Jeff

Re: Redcat Racing
I am a dealer for Redcat. The redecat items have been increasing in quality and they are now producing quality items at a great value. I don't sell them on EBAY but do sell them locally and my website. If anyone needs parts support or wants to purchase a Redcat just drop me a PM. I think they are a great value. Bill C.
