Evidently I bought the wrong parts to run 2.2 wheels
Based on a reading of the stickied "how to run 2.2 wheels" thread, I purchased the following for my gold-tub CE:
3/16 stub axles (the cvd's were discontinued and I'm fine w/ a dogbone setup):

And Duratrax Evader BX rear wheels:

Unfortunately, that axle will not fit into that wheel - the axle is too thick. It's not even close... ain't gonna happen. So, what did I do wrong? What parts do I really need?

Well the fit is closer than I thought. I was actually able to apply a bit of force and get the axle into the wheel, but it took a little elbow grease and its VERY tight. So, I'm thinking I can just ream out the wheel very lightly and that will be enough to make a good fit.
I'd be curious to know if others have had the same experience, for those who have tried this....

Yeah, they fit tight, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Just open up the holes a little bit and it should be perfect.

Yes. Both the truck wheels and the buggy wheels do the same thing...very tight. I just took a drill bit that was a tad tight to get into it (like the axle is) and ran it thru and back out. Worked to loosen them up to say the least but left the others alone...some think tighter is better...strangersinspace wrote:I'd be curious to know if others have had the same experience, for those who have tried this....

UM-414 wheels from Kyosho are almost an exact copy of the 3/16" B3 rear wheels. They are not made out of the brittle Duratrax plastic either.

The Kyosho America website says they're on backorder.... do you know where else to get them? Might be worth checking out. Thanks!Brandon G wrote:UM-414 wheels from Kyosho are almost an exact copy of the 3/16" B3 rear wheels. They are not made out of the brittle Duratrax plastic either.
