Hmmm... decisions, decisions. If I want one of these I'll probably have to cancel my order for the Sand Scorcher...

Re: New Schumacher Cougar 2wd buggy!!!!
Good stuff, I have the feeling the next year or two is going to be very interesting - with more than one manufacturer working on mid mount 2wd buggies......great to see that they used the Cougar name as well.
Just bugs me that they still appear to be using that darn wing retaining system with the o-rings - argggghhhhhh! LOL
Cheers

I think I'm going to like everything about this new car except the price, Schumacher just can't seem to get their pricing in line with every other maufacturer. If it was a $230 pro level car I would think about picking one up, but something tells me it will be closer to $350. And like Kyosho, they come out with a new car and every 6 months about $120 worth of changes to it.
Don't take my comments negatively, I'm just cheap

Mark you make some very good points and true ones at that! I will get one of these cars no doubt when they are released. Not so much because I want to beat people down the track (not like i would anyway) with it but rather just to experience the new Schuey 2WD.
It looks damn sexy though!

Re: New Schumacher Cougar 2wd buggy!!!!
Mark - you are correct on several points there. Schumachers have and always will be expensive models. That being said - they are usually VERY well specced out of the box. I ran the new C.A.T for about 5 months here in Aus and did very well with it. Unfortunately the car just did not quite cut it for me - and even though I was on an excellent deal with the parts etc, it just got expensive when all the "üpdates" started coming out, and replacing worn out parts. Schumacher no doubt will bring out a revised version of the C.A.T late this year....it would seem that X-Ray modelled their practices off Schumacher.markt311 wrote:I think I'm going to like everything about this new car except the price, Schumacher just can't seem to get their pricing in line with every other maufacturer. Having said all of that - I now drive for the Durango Australia Team for off road with the DEX410 - probably one of the most expensive cars ever released. One thing so far - I havent broken one part or added an option part to it. It performs brilliantly and has cost me nothing since its purchase. Give it time though - there will be parts as options that will have to be bought!!
As for the "budget" dollar "pro" cars - yep - they are indeed cheap - however they wear out VERY quickly, I cant beleive how quickly my B44 developed slop in the suspension! So what you save on purchase price - over time - you pay in parts keeping it sweet!
LOL - such is the nature of the racing beast.

I wonder if mid motor is the right choice for Schumacher? People seem to be switching back from X6's to B4's these days especially in mod

Re: New Schumacher Cougar 2wd buggy!!!!
Yeah - I think it will be a superb "Stock" spec class racer - schueys always were....It looks relatively short too - which will mean typical "razor sharp" handling.
As you know I campaigned the X-6 rather successfully - however I went to the B4 because after driving someone elses I realised that it felt more "älive" to drive. There can be no doubt that the X-6 is quick - however I just never felt like I could get the last 10th out of it that I can with the B4. All I have to do now is improve my concentration when at 10/10ths and I will be sweet!
Having said all that - I may well be tempted! I like driving cars that are "different". I wont be one of the first to get one though - I learnt that lesson with the C.A.T, I will drive someone elses before I part with the dollars! But paying a premium only to be the same speed or slower than a cheaper car is something I wont do anymore.
Cheers

Re: New Schumacher Cougar 2wd buggy!!!!
Schumachers do have certain quirkiness when it comes to engineering and design I would expect the same for this new Cougar. Have to get one to match the CAT SX in the stable.
That 'Rango' sure is a sweet looking car.....very unique then again so is the price

Re: New Schumacher Cougar 2wd buggy!!!!
Once you get oever the sticker price of the Rango though - it really is not that bad. You need NOTHING other than a couple of extra springs for tuning. We have found that the car is consistently up to .3 to .5 of a second quicker over a lap compared with our previous cars.
The price is forgotten pretty quickly after you drive the car.
I hope the same can be said for the new Cougar, lets hope it is a little more forgiving than the C.A.T.....
Cheers
