RC10 CE Resto

Hi everyone,
Heres a little winter project I started working on. I know you all have probably seen lots of these, LOL but its my first resto project. Sorry I don't really have any before pics, but trust me the car was pretty nasty. Every piece of hardware was rusted and it was covered in some sticky substance that I could only hope was pop . After lots of soaking and cleaning and many trips to my LHS (good thing its only 5 mins away) I have this. No parts have been changed except the screws. Its not perfect, but with a few things changed it would be damn close to NIB minty fresh. The chassis is scratch free, but someone drilled a hole in the side to maybe adjust the servo? The shocks have some light marks where a tool was used to hold them during building, the batt cup was cut and a front tube has a small plier mark. I may change these parts out as time and budget allow or maybe just paint up a body and slap in on the shelf. Heres the pics of the progress so far.

I still want to find (eventually ) a stealth CE, very nice project! I think I have a few sets of the gold nose tubes if and when you look to replace them--

Thanks for the comments guys. Charlie I just might have to take you up on that offer. Heres a few more pics of what I've got done. Shocks are back together. Heres a question for you, I'm guessing some do and some don't, put shock oil back in your shocks after getting them all cleaned up for a queen? I left mine out due to the fact that I didn't rebuild them and it looks like one or two had a small leak (nothing some green slime wouldn't fix). Also I've rounded up some electronics for it, Futaba radio, Tekin 410K ESC and a Reedy Mod motor (all from the era of course, to mimic what I ran back in the day).

I don't put any in mine, I have in the past without any problems, but I know of a few guys here that searched forever to find parts and then have the shocks leak out and ruin the parts later

Although you say the car was in a bit of a state - it certainly looks pretty much unused (no scratches on the chassis etc)

Thanks guys, Dan I'll take a pic of the old hardware just to give you an idea. You would have thought the car sat in water for all of these year. Thought I was going to need a tetanus shot after handling it. The bottom was covered in tape, not just any single type either, masking tape, duct tape, scotch tape, etc... LOL

Charlie, I bet that Floro tub would make a good mate for your 10T project. LOL Nice avatar.

Looks like all that tape did its job in protecting the chassis! As you say its a shame you don't have any before pics, it certainly looks like new now, the white parts look lovely and bright

It looks like it just came out of the box. I recently got a few old ones and was wondering where you got the new plastic from. Also are there any aluminum upgrades to replace the plastic? I took one of mine out and the plastic in the steering kept breaking.

Thanks man. It was a good find, a buddy pretty much gave it to me for nothing. All I have done is strip it down, clean the hell out of it and replace all the hardware. As for new plastic, Tower Hobbies sells it all (in black) but if its all white that you want you just have to keep an eye out on auction sites and boards like this. I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find aluminum parts too. Steering upgrades can be found and made, MIP makes a nice setup.

I'll check tower out. Made the mistake of taking a couple out in the cold to long and broke some of the old plastic. Im pretty sure mine is original plastic, pretty brittle. Especially when the son rams full speed into a 90 degree curb. Then the only tree within a mile. The look on his face of "Oh Crap" was almost worth it though.

Body just came in. Just waiting on the wing and wire now. Then its off to paint.
