Sassy Fox build

Well i made a new years promise that i would start(and hope to complete) some projects that have stacked up over the years. Loss of my job late last year has been frustrating. I have been unloading alot of parts that i would of never wanted to part with but the family and bills come first. Anyway, this managed to stay off the bay and decided to build it and lower the stress level a bit.
The Fox is my all time favorite vehicle. This one will get a Sassy chassis,hot trick axle setup, pro track bars and bumpers, front&rear sway bars and what ever else i can find in the hop up box. May be a slow go but here is the start.

thats a realy nice project that built.lots of peoples raced these back in the day.it was a nice handling car(still is)
good build.can wait to see more.

Nice build! The Fox was my first rc car and I recently restored mine to its full glory. I really like the look of that Sassy Chassis and am very interested to see how this build looks/performs once completed. I saw one on Ebay a while back but it went for crazy money (over USD200 if I remember rightly). Have you thought about maybe polishing up that chassis to obtain the chrome look?

What shocks will you be using? Are those AE or Kyosho?

Those are kyosho option house shocks. Although, i'm having a problem with the front shock and it's length. The shock at full length makes the front arms hang 2 low and causes the steering knuckles to bind on the aluminum plates that hold the ball studs in place. Yet when you shorten the shock, the front end tends to have a see-saw affect when you pick the front of the car up. I really don't want to go with those ugly yellow plastic shocks I tried race preps shock mounts but can't get it right.

If you are using the kyosho option house shocks, I think you need the JG front conversion kit (not the one for the dual shock set up but the one for the single shock set up). This widens the mounting points, I think. I have seen them come up occassionally on Ebay. One alternative may be to use those new gold anodized RC Lohas shocks - either with the single front or dual front set up.... (I've been thinking about converting my Fox build to those shocks).

Well this is as complete as it will get for now. I left off the pro track nerfs and went with the bumpers instead. I fixed the front shock problem with some different race prep mounts. This one is headed for the shelf.

By the way, which rims are those that you've used? They look sweet!

Thanks. Those are T&A wheels. They do look sweet on there and bring out the aluminum chassis. Thinking of adding a old parma or trinity rear sway bar to go with the front one.

Good idea. Don't know how the Trinity rear sway bar fits but I have the Parma one fitted to my Fox using the original chassis. I think you may have to drill a couple of mounting holes into the Sassy chassis at the top/rear (i.e. near where the shock mount fits) to fit the Parma rear anti-roll bar (you can see how mine is fitted here: (scroll down a little) http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=10918&start=15.

Have you thought about getting an aluminium wing - a dirt burners one (or equivalent)? This would compliment the chassis and wheels. One is currently available on EBAY if you were interested....
