Futaba FP - T2P Magnum Sport in RC10 Glitching
I have finished cleaning up my vintage RC10 and have an old Futaba Magnum Sport radio and receiver in the car and for some reason it glitches like crazy whenever the throttle is applied. I have checked the capacitors on the motor and tested all connections on the car. The motor and ESC are also very new and never had any problems with them in my other car. I don't know if I should just replace the receiver or get a whole new radio system altogether?

do you have another radio or receiver you can swap out piece by piece to see which one is the problem? Or at least a matched set of crystals?

No I don't. I think it has to be either the crystals have gone bad or the receiver may be damaged. I didn't know if this was a common problem or not since the old RC10 is a metal chassis that can cause a lot of noise that could be causing the glitching, because it only happens when you apply the throttle. I have moved the antenna as far away from the motor wires and battery wires but nothing seems to help. The other thing is the antenna wire is really long, so long in fact I had to bundle the wire because it is about three times as long as the antenna shaft, so I don't know if this could also be the cause?klavy69 wrote:do you have another radio or receiver you can swap out piece by piece to see which one is the problem? try putting a piece of lexan between the receiver and the chassis. do the same thing for the esc.

try another motor if you have one or cut the comm . i have had similar problems when brushes get glazed over and commutators get out of round. it causes more arcing which can cause more interference. this can cause the on throttle glitching you are refering to.

Try changing crystals if you have another set. I have had the receiver crystal go bad before.

I have also found using short sections of fuel tubing between the receiver and the antenna tube also reduces interference. I haven't known xtals to go bad, but im sure its possible. Check that the pins are still atached. I have one that i know of where the pin that fits into the receiver broke a pin off.

Where is the esc mounted and where is the receiver mounted???
It's best when the receiver is furthest away from power leads (motor and batt)....
Usually if a crystal goes bad, you have no reception at all.....
