Re: Slash, served up Ivan Ironman Stewart style.....
Absolutely the best Ivan Stewart replica I've ever seen.
Nice job!
We did our best years ago with what was available. I remember a couple of us doing up Turbo Ultima's, JRX Pro's, & RC10's Mickey Thompson style. My brother-in-law swiped my Ivan Stewart idea, so I counter attacked with a Roger Mears Nissan.
With the tires sticking way out past the fenders, we couldn't get the right look.
I never cared for the old Bigfoot looking "stadium" truck conversions.
No one offered up anything that detailed then.
It's nice to see a manufacturer finally wake up and produce a truck with real performance AND the realistic scale appearance we've waited for.
Check out Proline's latest Slash body....break away panels...incredible.

A new pic of this truck after converting it to open mod SC10 class. Running Integy wheel hubs, Kyosho wheels, J concepts tires, Novak GTB with a 10.5, and a Futaba digital BL servo. Much more fun now....

(kinda liked it much better before the swap)
Anyhow, keep stompin' those SC10's!

Re: Slash, served up Ivan Ironman Stewart style.....
I know what your talking about. I have goosebumps on my slash and they have a lot of traction, but it's too much traction. The truck traction rolls like crazy. Everyone at our local track has the same problem. We checked lap times on everyones truks with the stock tires and aftermarket ones, and the stock slash tires allowed the backend to rotate a lot more and the front to slide a little bit on corner entry. It all yielded almost 2 seconds faster lap times. We're only running 15 second lap times. Sometimes traction can be your worst enemy.JK Racing wrote:I'm not impressed with the Proline tire to be honest. I have seen several Slashes using them at our local track, no advantage. If I am gonna drop 100 on tires/wheels, it needs to be better performing, not just bling bling....
Keith, is that a frog?
I was running -3 degrees camber front and rear, modified the stock diff so that it's now a sealed unit (works awesome), and 0 toe. I since changed to running 0 degrees camber in front, and -1 degree in rear. I also have 50wt losi oil in the front and 45wt losi in the rear. It handles a lot better now that the camber is set to 0 in the front.

Re: Slash, served up Ivan Ironman Stewart style.....
Yeah, the Proline beadlocks do look MUCH better, but I got tired of having to rebead the tires after every other run. They worked well till the fine dust made it's way into the beadlock. Then it just gave up hold every couple of runs. Only on the rears though. Can't beat the traction of these 1/8th tires on this truck. I'll give up looks for that anyday.Diggley wrote:Brandon G wrote:A new pic of this truck after converting it to open mod SC10 class. Many of our locals are using the Proline bowties on the stock size wheel and they seem to do pretty well.
We have a guy here running the new HPI short course truck. Tell you what, for the money it is hard to beat. It seems to do everything very well. Jumps level, tranny is quiet and efficient, rolls through the bumps well. It will be my next truck when this Slash finally bites it.

Re: Slash, served up Ivan Ironman Stewart style.....
I just replaced my slash with the Blitz...night and day. Took the Blitz out of the box, dropped in a 13.5, qualified 3rd in the A for Open Corr.
For tires, check out the new Proline Calibers...awesome stuff. The new Proline "split six" beadlocks hold better than the older ones. I heard many complaints about the beads pulling out on the older sets.
