Foams On Stock 10T Wheels?
I wanted to know if anyone has tips for putting foam donuts on the stock 3-piece 10T wheels? Can you simply build up layers of foam to fill in the gap between the two halves, then put the donut over this foam?

I believe Proline made wheels and foam tires at one time. My lhs has a set of front and rears still hanging about. I'm sure they could be available.

Yeah, no way to do it with the three-piece wheels, but if you can get the donuts you can put them on any one-piece wheel, if you shave down the ribs. But it would be easier/cheaper/faster to just buy them pre-mounted.
HPI, Pro-Line, and others sold mounted foams years ago. You had to really look for the foam donuts by themselves, and I never saw wheels specifically foams for sale. Some of the tires were full-size, the same as the off-road tires, but most were smaller, about the size of Pro-Line Strikers.

Re: Foams On Stock 10T Wheels?
Thanks for the help!
I actually bought a lot of A&L wheels and mounted/trued foams, but none are for a 10T rear. I might just buy some rear pan car donuts and stretch them over my old HPI Super Stars. I used to do this many years ago when I raced carpet. Soak the donuts in soapy water and stretch like crazy until they slip over the wheels.

if you could find the right size of foam, i think you could pull it off. you should try it on some wheels that you don't want. practice makes perfect. you might have to get creative with a tire lathe and a dremel.
for the 3 piece wheels: you could cut the plastic inner ring in half to match the outter diameter of the 3 piece wheel covers (measure it) (not the lip, but where the inside diameter of tire bead rides on). than you could glue it in the inside the foam tire. make sure it's centered inside of the foam. leave room on the sides for where the lips of the wheel covers are going to be glued too. remember that the foam tire could stretch. put the wheel covers on one at a time. at the same time put plenty of glue on the area where the foam will be sitting on, and where the plastic inner ring will be sitting on as well. center it. put on the other wheel cover, and put the allen screws in so it could be centered properly. let the glue dry for 24 hours. it's worth a stretch. if it's too much don't worry, this something i would do just to see if i could pull it off.
for the 1 piece wheels: you could pull it off easier than the 3 piece wheels. just put the wheels onto a lathe(with the proper wheel arbor). mill away the ouside diameter of the wheel til you have a smooth outside diameter surface. if you're familiar with gluing on-road wheels on than the rest is easy. again, find the right size of foam for the outside diameter of the wheel. having a caliper on hand to make sure the outside diameters of the wheels are identical could help too.
check out my b2 wheels i had converted to foams. these are 1 piece fronts with the rings milled away. i glued on a set of foams, and raked them. at the time i was experimenting with foams on a hard clay track.
