Another slice of AE history.
I must have watched that video 1000 times when I first got my GT. I didn't have enough $$ to get the motor at the same time, so during the two weeks or so that I had to wait for a motor I just watched that video over and over, chomping at the bit. Good times lol.... :D

I need a full set of DS wheels and tires. anyone got any???? I would preffer chrome rims with black or gold inserts, but anything would work.

haha i watch that video all the time, unfortunatly right now its stuck in my vcr and wont come out OR play. I love the music and jeez can you sense the tension in the air in that video! seems like gene is always saying "ok go" (im filming now) and then "ok hold it right there" or "good, stop"... lol. then at the end they just look DOWN at the pavement as a close to the video how hardcore is that.

I miss my nds. I sold that and my GT at about the same time. I have never missed the GT, but the DS was a cool car that I hoped to get running right someday. LOL From day one, something was binding in the trans. Thing wouldn't go over 10mph. Clutch bell got so hot and the shoes rubbed so hard that the bell was a purplish blue. I rebuilt the tranny 3 different times and changed out bearings twice. No idea what was locking it up. Maybe a shaft??? I'd say it was beginners luck but I've built enough cars over the years. Oh well, I sold it as is with a disclaimer that it wasn't running right. Some guy "stole" it from me for 150 and it was only 6mos old at the time. (Note: this was when the nds first came out) :)
I did a nice paint job on it too. (one of the few)

I am thinking of trying to find a used one again.

Sounds like the tranny was good, but I'll bet you 10 bucks you brake linkage/brake disc or caliper was bad and was in lockup when your servo was active

I can't remember what all I had checked because it was 8 or 9 yrs ago now. LOL You could very well be right on though. I could have tried running it w/o the brake altogether and see what that got me. Whatever it ended up being, I bet I would have figured it out a lot quicker if I had these forums back then and some help from you guys. :) I got impatient pretty quick and just put it on the shelf for a while. I was really active racing my GT at the time so all my time/ money went to that.

Maybe I'll read a comment someday/ somewhere on a board that says "I remember buying a nds off a guy for 150 that was practically brand new. The dumbass I bought it from never set up the tranny brake the wrong way." I'll be sure and fess up at that point.
