Re: Even old dragsters and gasers are worth a fortune
I have a 69' GT500 waiting for me when my Dad passes the torch--17345 mi, all original & unrestored--I'll have to dig out some pics. But to be honest--I'd rather have my Dad then the carmrlexan wrote:That's only true for the years that only had a release of the GT350, ie the '65 and '66 with the '65s being the creme of the crop. In the years of where they offered both, '67 -'70, unless it's an ultra rare special car, the GT500s always go higher than the GT350s.tizeye wrote:GT500's are not supposed to bring more than GT350's
Yours? I didn't know there was another fellow Shelby owner on the forum? '67 GT500 #2984 is mine....... Or are you restoring it for someone else.justinspeed79 wrote:I am currently restoring a 70' Shelby GT500KR.

Almost. Right country, wrong decade. That car is a 71 Miura SV. The last version of the Miura before the introduction of the Countach.aconsola wrote:right Country and decade.tizeye wrote:I guess that's a early 60's Ferrari?![]()

I saw them when they were brand new, the elite few would bring them to the races like at Elkhart Lake and they just looked like the coolest thing ever made or should I say created. Transverse mounted rear engined V12, it's quite a few decades later and they still make me stop and stare.MelvinsArmy wrote:Almost. Right country, wrong decade. That car is a 71 Miura SV. Best looking car ever made in my humble opinion. They sit so low and are so sleek, the lines are pefect. Gandini could have been a sculptor, his designs are so beautiful. The Miura was fast as hell too, way ahead of what Ferrari had to offer at the time. I believe the Miura is considered the original "supercar". I've seen a couple P400 and S models, but never an SV.a01butal wrote: I saw them when they were brand new, the elite few would bring them to the races like at Elkhart Lake and they just looked like the coolest thing ever made or should I say created. Re: Even old dragsters and gasers are worth a fortune
Every year we have this big hot rod/custom car event called The Beach Hop..there are hundreds of really nice and some not so nice cars entered each year. It's based around a beach called Whangamata which is in a really beautiful part of the country. People come from all over the World just to be a part of it..it's been said that the quality of the builds is equal to that of any part of the World including the U.S.A.....here's a website for the event http://www.beachhop.co.nz/home/index.htm and here is one with lots of pic's of the rides http://www.nz-hotrod.com/BEACH-HOP.html

Re: Even old dragsters and gasers are worth a fortune
It might only be $1000 to ship, but the importing/customs fees will kill you. I've looked into bringing a few VW's over and it would have been as much in fees as the car. Years ago when I was a painter, I did a phenominal 71 Detomaso Pantera. I had always liked those but have been more into muscle. When the chance came to put the color on, I couldn't say no. After the car was completed and tested, several months later the owner had a bad experience with drugs and wound up in rehab. The car was sold for pennies on the dollar by his family. I literally cried that I couldn't afford it at the time.

If it isn't broke, I haven't driven it yet.

Here's the Boss. It will be done within a couple of months, maybe sooner. I will post some pics when it is finished.
