hi all, just picked up this, i believe its a '91 works, in not bad condition, i'm going to rebuild it, so Bormac, might need some parts, MrLexan, bodyset, any info on this would be great, instruction sheet would be a great help.

It looks like a 870C with a Robinson one-way and a aftermarket top brace?

I have some NIP parts if it is, differential, etc. I got a repro body from Mr. Lexan and its top notch!

Looks like a mix of 870c and works 91/93.

Nice grab I can get some nip yoke tires if need be. Not sure if theyre original from that model.

thanks for the info, with the 870C, i thought it had a chassis support that sits on the chassis, is this the same ??? Also the arms on the Yok, are they the original ?

The chasis support was just epoxy'd in, my 870c doesn't have it since it has a Jammin' upper deck brace. Not too sure on the arms, do you have a bottom shot of the car you can post? Or hit that thing with some soap first?

Its really nice to see somebody collecting a yokomo dog fighter buggies especially the 870c to works93 they share most of the parts in its class.

haven't heard of the brand before, but the parts sure look nice.

The one way-gear adapter is used in place of the stock spur gear. It's a nice tuning option and even better that you can easily change the spur.

with all of these parts i should be able to put together a nice 870C hopefully, i've begun to strip the complete car and clean it up, i'll post as I go along, think on the complete car i have a one way set up on it already, i'll compare the 2, see if they are the same.

The arms are very much in the style of Andy's arms, but look like they have the two mounting positions depending on what drivshaft length is being used.

It's definitely a YZ870C chassis, but the top brace and sus. arms are not from an 870c, it looks like a mixture of parts? Still cool none the less !!

Being new to the forums and living in the UK it's amazing to see all the vintage Yokomo parts you guys seem to have!
I've been struggling to find a bumper and rear wheels for my 870c can't seem to find anything much on any of the UK forums
It's strange because Yokomo's have always been a big success over here.....

Rob this is a brilliant start to a very good vintage Yoke racer. I have the same setup on my Dog Fighter. The wider arms are from the 91-93 model (I think) which allow you to run the 2.2inch rims that are floating around from time to time. In my opinion the Japanese 870c shell is one of the most iconic of its time and looks damn awesome tearing around the race track. Masami did very well with this car back in 89 at the WORLD's at St Ives (SYDNEY) and many of the mods that the team made have been similarly duplicated on the car you have here. To be honest I would say your car might have started out as a 91 model and someone has retrofitted the earlier chassis plate. This seems to be quite common back in the day. Perhaps it was the old cell layout or chassis flex characteristics people prefered with the earlier chassis design. Either way its not the first time Ive seen this combo on an early Dog Fighter.
There are a handful of neat tricks which I think are essential to making this car both reliable and last longer between scheduled maintenance rebuilds. When i rebuild mine over the xmas break I'll post some pics up on this forum for you.
