Brushless Motor in a Hot Shot?????

There are a handful of us that are trying to relive the dream of running these older cars and running them at or even beyond their original limmits. Replacing busted gears, parts and even electronics goes hand in hand with what we are all about.
I dont care too much about what i brake as I keep spares for most of the cars I own.

Gee Jason you got to see this Hot Shot Go!!!!!!!!

So much fun with a good mod motor and the right gearing.

It just lights up all 4 wheels on the ground and is very easy to drive. Even on loose dirt with the kit tires its so good.

I think the Suspension kit does a real good job. That maybe the reason its so good.

Just ordered a new brushed Trinty Speed Gems Pro motor which i think maybe just the one for the SHOT'S.

I agree with bormac. I got back into R/C about a year ago after being gone since the early 90's and was amazed at the technology especially with the brushless motors and batteries. I got a Castle Mamba Max and a 5700 motor. With the USB customizable controller you can make it start out very smoothly and under control. I think these would be better on weaker drivelines.

I'll add my $.02

I ran a 27T burshed in My Supershot at the Vonats this year, and it came off of the track everytime VERY hot. And I was using the smallest pinion I could use without grinding the case.

I was originally going to use BL in the car, but I got to reading around and it seemed that the gearing couldn't be made correct unless you start hacking on the case to get more motor adjustment. The more I look back on it, I wish I HAD went BL in the S.Shot based on the temps of the brushed motors. Overgeared for them means I would have been close for the BL.

That's all good now though. I will be putting her on the shelf with a Technigold in it. The old car was fun to drive, but it simply won't steer. I even added CVD's in the front to get more throw with out driveshaft binding, but it still wasn't enough.

Didn't break a single part on it all weekend! I say go with a 10.5 or a 13.5 and you should be OK.

A buddy of mine runs a traxxas veleon system in his re-re hotshot alog with a 3c lipo. Goes like stink and no broken parts(yet)

I agree with Brandon, either 13.5 or 10.5 BL. 13.5 to be on the safer side...
