Cox Kyosho Scorpion restoration
This is my first RC car, the Cox Kyosho Scorpion. It has not looked this good since new. On it's first run the screw came loose from the steering servo horn and I ran her full bore into a curb. No major damage, however the freshly painted body chipped here and there. 20+ years later, still my favorite car.
I used Dubro rod ends with the brass balls removed and 4-40 rod. I have the original rod ends and 2-56 rods somewhere. The tub needs a touch of bondo in a few spots. The rims also require attention... I'm still searching for a suitable chrome finish. I will be in touch with Kamtec for a body.

Get one of Marwan's repro bodies, they are much better than Kamtech and better customer service.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: Cox Kyosho Scorpion restoration
i think marwan only does the turbo scorpion, which is a better looking body anyway.. but not correct for that car, BUT it would fit perfectly with the tub/chassis there. Roll cage might be sligtly different, i think the turbo scorpions used a "shorter" aluminum roll bar as opposed to the original version here..
either way it fits... on the car..
Kamtec while he offers some good choices shipping has always been slow as hell to me. took him 2 weeks to ship a body to me once and another time took 6 weeks for me to recieve a javelin wing..

Re: Cox Kyosho Scorpion restoration
yes, they did share a lot. On the electric line the tomahawk was the last of the line and had a couple improvements for racing, but when it comes to vintage, the scorpion seems more popular for it's more scale looks.matthew john wrote:that sorta looks like my kyosho assault thats waiting for a restoration.
