Associated RC10T

Post by Savage03 »

RC10T the original from back when. For $50 its in pretty good shape the body will go tho lol pretty banged up looking. This was my favorite AE rig even over the buggy and really excited to have one now.
Here is a interesting story some might find funny. Back in the day I had the rc10 buggy it was the newer one and I had bought one of the new powder coated tubs(red) so I started seeing the adds for the new 10T version but it was still some time before it was gonna be out to the public just the team guys had em of course. So I was bored one day and called up AE to see if they had a date for release, I ended up talking to a head guy at AE I forget his name now but hes a well known person there so maybe someone knows that...anyway told him what I have and was dying for the T to come out well he says their still a ways from release BUT they had all the separate parts on hand and if I wanted I could piece a T together form my buggy! Well he says the kicker is you have to pay the package price, for those that know AE has their stuff as list price so its higher then you pay at a store, so I said well add it up and lets go from there. So he does and I dont recall the amount now but I did it! So I cna with certainy say least in my area I had the only 10T and was rather proud to take it to the local track at the time to show it off
Ok so onto the pics, here is the old 10T I talked about, had to be early 90's I think

Got the truck yesterday and got right into tearing it down for cleaning since it has some cancer on most of the screws, bearings and even the tranny outdrives :o Gonna give the plastics a dye bath to refresh them, read just even boiling them helps bring them back life by adding I think its air into them making them flexible again and not brittle.
Fun part will be a body best I can find is a repro which they want $45 for  and maybe some street rubber.

Anyway tore it all apart and cleaned everything, redyed the parts, lubed the gears and just waiting on some wheel bearings since the others were rusted and the fronts were bushings so forget that. Also replaced most rusted screws with purty stainless ones. Next fun part is getting a body, dam repros are $45! More then a slash body yikes.

I remember when the 10Ts were advertised, I've always wanted one, but since I couldn't afford one, I bought an MRC MT-10M and tried to convert it into a racer.

Then I got my 10T last year, and it was like re-living my teenhood... :D

Those rear A arms do indeed look like the T2 ones. They are just missing the Assoc. # 7657 Shock mounts needed for the T2 (Page 26, Fig. 95 of the T2 manual). Should still work fine.

ae has great customer service and even better for shops. when i was working everything we had a defective part or just needed something replaced for a customer that normally wouldnt be covered under warranty or covered unless it broke we would call em tell em exactly what the situation was and no questions asked theyd send a new one out wouldnt charge for shipping or want the old part back if it worked they told us sell it as used or if it was broke throw it in the trash. i think the guys name was jason? i am almost positive thats what it is. my manger used to race pro for 4-6 years for em. i think that has something to do with it but we would have stuff that wasnt out yet on disply and there was times where we would have customers offer double the retail to be the first on to have it.

good luck with the truck if theres anything i can do to help ya out let me know im great at locating parts
speed r/c taking car of all your rebuilds/restore/used and new custom builds/and anything in between pm me for quotes and`pics of previous builds
